Interesting that it's '48 and Smith ran against him. Is there any backstory or is it just the exercise?
Long runs as a spoiler in '36 and picks up a few states. The Share Our Wealth platform is hijacked by Smith when Long spends too much time soaking in the limelight. Smith gets really into fascism, Long doesn't, because he's been busy fighting the Klan.
After running three seperate times Long finally wins the Democratic nomination. Smith decides to run his third party out of spite so he can leech the racist southern vote.

Interesting. I figured it was something along the lines, considering the difference in racial views. I'd be interested in seeing a write-up

I wonder where is Al Smith at this point

Something that really grinds my gears is how everyone in the CCP is like 60+. I can't make future lists for shit because y'all are all genocidal old farts.
Idea, have a future list that has old fart love to like 80+ only to be couped by those Young Maoist students that have popped in recent years.

"You'll be back like before
I will fight the fight and win the war
For your love, for your praise
And I'll love you 'til my dying days
When you're gone, I'll go mad
So don't throw away this thing we had
'Cause when push comes to shove
I will kill your friends and family to remind you of my love"

Huh, I assumed he would lead the American Expeditionary Force to overthrow King Charles III. 😛

Just to clarify - how do you make these photos?

State Rep. Park Cannon of Georgia knocked on the door of the legislative capital building because she was locked out of witnessing the governor signing new electoral restrictions into law. Immediately, she's manhandled by two state police, lead out of the building and subsequently arrested by a group of three different officers holding her down.

Reverend and now-Senator Ralph Warnock, along with Congressman Hank Johnson and Pastor Cynthia L. Hale, calmly walked into the capitol rotunda, knelt down and prayed, as a form of peaceful protest against the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and the passage of a Republican budget proposal. Within moments fourteen police officers form a perimeter, then seven more new ones cuff them and force them out of the building.

Earlier this year, while the states were ratifying their electoral votes, thousands of angry Trump supporters, all of whom were white, stormed what should've been the most secure building in the country. They broke windows, killed cops and security guards, vandalised congressional offices, and almost made it to the chamber where the congresspeople were being kept. Then they just kinda...filtered out. They all went home. Only 325 were charged and the GOP are currently arguing that pursuing any sort of legal action is bad faith. Some people say that the cops were actually assisting with rioters, posing for selfies and escorting them up the capital steps.

I'm so fucking sick and tired of America. Jim Crow never ended, it's just got new paint.

In a "that's fairly fresh but I wonder if he'll actually have a national career" way

Is he still a judge as of 2021? I'm not sure.

i get the distinct impression that if the socialist movement in America has any chance of success at all, it's going to require people like bynum to be around in some major way. i think he still is a state judge, but if he isn't expect him to be back soon.

Yes, he is, on a county level.

I’m pretty acquainted with him through Houston DSA and I don’t get the sense that he especially wants a national career: the highest I could see him getting would be District Attorney or something of that nature, and even that seems less likely than him staying in his position and just continuing to do what he’s doing.
