    Thunder on the Hudson Church
  • Institutions of the Atlantic Church

The Bosnydelphia Corridor was a religiously diverse region even before the Deluge, and this diversity was only exacerbated as groups became more insular as the world collapsed. The leaders of the Thalassocracies however sought to foster interfaith relations by forming a Council. As time went by, the Atlantic “Church” as the melting pot of faiths was called began to be referred to as a collective unit; this doesn’t mean they don’t disagree, mind.

Atlantic Catholic Church: The Catholics are the most significant prepartum religious denomination of the Corridor, and one with much political cachet owing to its historical influence on the region. This influence can be traced back to a Papal Bull just before the Deluge that relegated priestly selection to regional bishops. This led to the Archbishop of New York becoming de facto head of the “Atlantic Catholic Church”, much to Boston’s chagrin.
    • Knights of Columbus: The Republics and Counties of the Connecticut Valley are home to a militant branch of the Atlantic Church, that has a tenuous relationship with the mother church. This of course is mostly due to secular concerns, the people of the Valley do not wish to be under New York’s thumb, temporally or Spiritually.

Atlantic Protestants: It’s rather reductive to talk about the Protestants of the Corrior, but to do the various sects justice would be a much longer list than I wish to write. Needless to say there are many different Mainline, Presbyterian, and Methodist Denominations, with a fair amount of Ecumenism; there is however one uninvited denomination the…
    • Old North Church-based Church of America in Boston is a testament to the syncretic nature of the religious communities of the Corridor, practicing a theology more akin to the Patriotic Folklorists: Americans were Providence’s Chosen People, the Constitution was divinely inspired, and Washington ascended to Heaven instead of dying.

    Folklorists:
    Jersey Devil:
The Jersey Devil is a creature said to inhabit the Pine Barrens of New Jersey; he is said to be a thirteenth child, cursed by his own mother to be a devil. In postpartum New Jersey, he has become seen as a Protector Spirit, and many shrines to him dot the backwoods of the Garden State.
Lovecraftians: The Lovecraftians of Providence are an odd bunch, occultists who believe the Old World was destroyed by the Elder Gods their namesake told of. They thus have become users of Ancient Magicks to keep the Elder Gods at bay, and many people travel from far and wide to learn these secrets at the Providence Library
Lady Liberty: The Church of Columbia, Our Lady of Liberty is a Folklorist Group of the Patriotic School found primarily in the Republic of New York. They are a notably feminist creed, given their entire priesthood is female led. Pilgrims from all down the Eastern Seaboard come each year to kiss the feet of the Shrine the Church maintains in New York Harbor.
Liberty Bell: The Church of the Liberty Bell of Philadelphia is in many ways like the Columbians, but the other side of the coin. Their priests are entirely male, and generally lean more conservative than their cousins, but they are also more militant [as militant as an Atlantic Creed can be] Let Freedom Ring!
Cult of Colt: The Cult of Colt is a Tech Folklorist faith based in Connecticut that despite the name is dedicated to all firearms, which they believe were granted to man to make them equal. They believe that tinkering and other such mechanical arts are the way to the divine, and thus makes them invaluable in technological art.
Imperial Tower: The Empire State Building is not the tallest of the towers in New York, but its undamaged façade has impressed many since the Deluge. In the postpartum world, it has become home to a group of Tech Folklorists who revere the Sky-Scrapers of the Old World, who construct towers of their own to emulate them.

    Jews:
    Haredi:
While New York City was not the only place in America with a Haredi population, its cosmopolitan nature has meant the Jews of the City and Leykvaud have enjoyed a safety their fellows in Kiryas Joel or Kiryas Tosh have not. The yeshivas of New York have become centers for haredi thought and its Shomrim are often sent to defend the enclaves outside the Corridor.
Reform: This is not to say that Haredi thought dominates the Jewish Community of the Corridor, the Reform Jews are also a notable grouping, especially in Philadelphia; the most prominent being Congregation Mikveh Israel, a Sephardi Esnoga.

    Liberal Theologies:
    Unitarian Universalists:
The Liberal Theology of the Unitarian Universalists of Boston is considered by many in the Corridor to be the main reason for the tolerance of the Atlantic Church. As such, the UUs enjoy an outsized influence as the primary mediators of religious disputes in the Church.
Quakers: While some of the members of the Society of Friends based in Philadelphia fall into one of the religions listed above, they do not necessarily fit into any one box. The Quakers profess nonviolence and occupy a similar place as the Unitarian Universalists as mediators

    Non-Religious Organizations:
    Ivy League:
The Ivy League is a series of Universities that are run by a fraternal order of teachers. They are not something that would be considered a faith outside of the Corridor, except for a small minority that preach that the search for knowledge itself is sacred.
Coast Guard: During the Deluge, the Guardsmen of the Coast Guard were left to their own devices, and in the intervening generations, they have organized themselves into a hierarchy akin to their prepartum organization dedicating to keeping the trade routes safe. Led by an Admiral, the Ships of the Coast Guard are the largest nongovernmental fleet in the Corridor

    Masons:
    Masonic Lodge:
The Masons are one of the oldest fraternal organizations in America, dating [so they claim] to ancient times. They defy classification in any other system, the Masons are the Masons, many of its members were members of other churches, but their cosmic geometric beliefs remind of the folklorists. Nonetheless they are an institution in the Republic of Boston, and woe betide whosoever angers the Brahmins, lest you disappear…
