Kerry '04 (2021 Freedom House Ratings)
1667430271694.png
NOTES:
-The EU/NATO has cracked down on anti-democracy regimes within itself, so regimes in places like Hungary are not shit
-The Iranian regime heavily reformed, becoming a more 'you can become President, but you must wear hijab' kind of place a la Pakistan.
-Oman has taken a similar path
-The Israel-Palestine peace process was advanced. Gaza was just given to the Egyptians to do whatever they wanted (they promptly made it an independent puppet state) while Israeli settlements were withdrawn from the West Bank. In exchange for axing the extremists from leadership, the Israelis also removed most restrictions on Arabs entering Israel proper and massively expanded aid. The West Bank is now the recognized Republic of Palestine and is in a currency union with Israel, while Gaza is even more of a nightmare than OTL.
-The Myanmar coup (and genocide, to a degree) also didn't happen, while Hong Kong is marked as Green as the CCP fails more than OTL at curbing freedoms.
