Methinks Wisconsin might be a bit of a stretch. And why is Cow-Fever losing Missouri, which Stevenson lost by less than two points and is fairly culturally analogous to the Senator's home state, while overperforming most elsewhere?

one of the funniest parts of the 2004 campaign is that bush invested millions of dollars into obviously failed efforts in hawaii, california, maine, washington, oregon, and new jersey while doing shit like calling minnesota's iron range the "iron ridge", imagine if this had somehow succeeded but backfired at the same time?

You say this like the auto-reification of Muh Red State Blue State that emerged in large part as a response to this election (cf. "Jesusland") is a preferable state of affairs. And with the exception of Maine none of those states, some of which had also genuinely been within striking distance for Dubya four years prior, have been remotely as competitive since.
 
Imagining a hilarious version of events where the election comes down to Oregon, which Al Gore wins and there's subsequently decades of conspiracies revolving around John Kitzhaber fixing the state's results for him.

kitzhaber would 100% rig it for him and i’d fw it so hard. a guy in 2010 gave peter defazio the hardest competition of his political career and then his kids were kicked out of oregon state university.
