AH Run-downs, summaries and general gubbins

I have decided that I needed to do a kind of shameless 'I end up Prime Minister' FH scenario, and then I made it as weird as possible. So enjoy.

Political Rundown of the United Kingdom/Republic/State/???? of Great Britain, 2050

The Government
Forward Britannia!:
The prime minister seems incredibly surly those days. I think it's to do with the Americans essentially finally abolishing NATO. Hey, it means we can do the whole European Armed Forces thing. Isn't she on record as having sympathies for it?

The Opposition
Unionist Party:
Gods, did you see that comment in the Senate? "Our prime minister cannot decide on matters because her antlers are stuck in a tangle." I thought we all agreed to stop bringing up people's bodies sometime early last decade. This is what we're wasting time for? At least they didn't say that she wasn't listening. Sure, it's a common saying, but it's notable that it has been used a lot for her.
Free Liberals: Mark Barrett floated the idea of a rebrand back to 'Liberal Democrats', but doesn't Forward Britannia! own that name as the merger of it, Labour and the Greens? But then, the old Lib Dems saw parties carry on the Liberal and SDP names and whatnot.
European Party: America abolishing NATO means that they can continue to be insufferable and argue for Rejoin. Rejoin is a bit too regressive those days, nobody in Europe thinks the EU is even fit for purpose, we need a tighter United Europe, like what the French suggest. The PM has made noises to that effect, but does the European Party care? No, they just back 'Rejoin' because people of a certain generation just never got over 2016.
Flood Prevention Party: Once again talking about the importance of reclamation of the Fens and full compensation of all the victims of the 2030s floods. While yes, we all want that, can they read the room? We're dealing with much more important stuff here, not routine Deluge matters.
Scottish People's Party: Finally changed it from "People's Scottish Party" at their conference, which basically had all the same noises as before. All the same PSP notes - Scottish independence blah blah, English oppression blah blah, amnesty for terrorists blah blah, bring back Holyrood blah blah.
Plaid Cymru: In a really tight spot since the Prime Minister at times sounds very like those people. Remember her whole speech about Welsh history? Extremely meandering, made no sense, but hit basically all the nationalist notes and at the end had a fumbled almost-apology for the whole English/British oppression of Wales. I think it was deliberately mumbly-mouthed to avoid English backlash. Plaid has been very quiet since that.

The Referendum Campaign: I hope we decide, because why are we deliberately neither monarchy or republic until the actual vote?
It's Our Country!: The 'yes' campaign, endorsed by the PM and the Free Liberals, as well as half of FB and Europeans, it's doing very well with this sort of loud populisty campaign against the King. Some of the right-wing media has alleged that all this is supported from the shadows by Harry.
True and Loyal: The 'no' campaign, backed of course by the Unionists and the other half of FB, it has honestly been falling apart and offers basically nothing but ineffective fearmongering about how republic will ruin the country, and some of their own has been caught on mic as stating that 'Britain can't be trusted to elect the head of state'. All over the People's Daily and Forward! frontpages of course.
King William V: The King has for some reason decided that this is when he breaks royal protocol and has tried to actively campaign. The King has canvassed! Truly he is of the people, we observe as he regularly gets his face slammed in.

10/10, long live the Tibby Regime
"Our prime minister cannot decide on matters because her antlers are stuck in a tangle."
how big are the PM's antlers

Hmmmm

I don't think I like the French proposal

West Britain (formally the Republic of Western Britain) is a nation spanning from Glasgow down to the River Teife. It formed during the 1936-8 War of Windsor Succession and resulting warlord period, with Irish forces (and US money) assisting various factions to create a buffer state. The new government is organised along Ireland's lines: a president, elected Assembly, and appointed Senate; a written constitution modelled on Ireland's; and Guardians of the Peace national police service. The United Kingdom still officially wants the lost land back.

Then you have the rest of us that pine for the return of the guinea as a decimal currency, perhaps with doubling the center line in the current sterling currency symbol to make the point (₤).

New Guinea (₤) was the decimal currency introduced in the Republic or Great Britain to replace Sterling which had collapsed in 2034, following the cliff edge devaluation of oil, gas, and coal stocks. The new administration chose to adopt the Aluminium Standard, and linked the currency to the Reserve Bank of Conakry, hence the name. It was referred to as the New Guinea, to distinguish it from the seventeenth century coin. The term Aluminium Guinea, or colloquially Algui, was also used to contrast with the gold guinea.

[Sequel to this]

Since the last election the system for registering to vote for Britain's Third House has shifted - transgender voters who registered as trans at the census are now compelled to vote in the transgender parliament. This was done to avoid the situation at the last election where trans people had to self-disclose to the Ministry for Electoral Affairs and it was hoped this would increase the turnout. This broadly speaking worked. Despite new ID at polling station rules trans people turned up to vote in far larger numbers than last time and did not vote in the Men and Women's Parliaments. However, many argue that a lot of trans people refused to disclose their identity in the census and more work is needed in order to properly identify these voters.

The election was held after the Labour Party - now under the control of its moderate wing - finally swept control of both the Men's and Women's Parliaments.

GREATER LONDON
Transgender Parliamentary Party: Munroe Bergdorf 12,233 (52.2%) (+14.5%)
Transform: Felix Fern 4085 (18.1%) (NEW)
Liberal: Em Dean 3182 14.1% (+0.3%)
Social Credit: Cade Hatton 1151 5.1% (-0.7%)
Labour: Dylan Tippetts 993 4.4% (-30%)
Women's Parliamentary Party: Christine Burns 925 4.1% (-4.2%)
Let Women Speak: Posie Parker (722 - 3.2%) (NEW)

The election of TPP leader Munroe Bergdorf was never in doubt. Election watchers noted a strong incumbency bonus in this election, with voters broadly grateful to any Former MP given the perception of hostility they had received over the course of the last parliament. Bergdorf's main rival came from the newly formed Transform Party. While the party was formed out of a perception that the TPP was not radical enough Fern made it very clear that he was standing to win Transform a seat at national level, not to oppose Bergdorf. Because the TPP achieved more than a majority, 497 votes were transferred to the TPP to national selection

Christine Burns was the only returning WPP candidate - in the last election (aside from her) the party's campaign was characterised by the presence of Sex Skeptic trans people. Since then, the party has shifted to being pro-trans rights. This is largely because the party membership and vote is drawn from the feminist movement and due to their Sex Skeptic policies they were no longer getting invited to feminist events.

Prominent Sex Skeptic Posie Parker had spearheaded a campaign to get her voters to write in "Sex Skeptic" as their sexual identity on the 2021 census. This caused a certain amount of chaos at the polls as Sex Skeptic voters often turned up en mass and with signs to ensure everyone would know they weren't actually transgender. They frequently ended up in fights with transgender voters in and around the polling stations and stayed after voting to protest the vote in general, forcing the police to increase protection around polling stations.

REST OF ENGLAND
Transgender Parliamentary Party: Sabah Choudrey (9102 - 38.8%)
Liberal: Chris Northwood (2553 - 10.8%)
Social Credit: Seb Cousins (2252 - 9.6%)
Transform: Oscar Wolf (2017 - 8.6%)
Labour: Suzie Izzard (1595 - 6.8%)
Women's Parliamentary Party: Rachel Mann (1267 - 5.4%)
Let Women Speak: Alice Cutter (258 - 1.1%)
Reality Party: Debbie Hayton (33 - 0.14%)

Sabah Choudrey was the only other incumbent to stand and did so in a new constituency. They were, again, re-elected comfortably. The Liberal Party provided the closest thing to an opposition. The party was to the right of Labour in 2020, but after the resignation of Jo Rowling as leader the party has shifted towards a qualified support for self-ID under their new leader Jon Bartley. This is in contrast to Labour, who supported self-ID in 2020 but experienced a rightward turn after Simon Danczuk took over as leader. Danczuk represents the moderate wing of the party and has pushed for a compromise position on trans rights which has spectacularly failed to win over the trans community and saw all of Labour's transgender MPs resign. Labour maintains that with the new streamlining of the gender recognition certificate system the "Trans Issue" is now settled and no further discussion or reform is needed.

Debbie Hayton, former WPP candidate, stood in this election for her own "Reality Party" which claims to represent trans people who recognise biological reality. She received a lot of attention in the Spectator and News of the World TV but failed to cut through with trans voters.

The TPP did not gain a majority in this seat and therefore 2627 votes were removed from the party at national selection.

WEST ENGLAND, WALES, ULSTER SCOTLAND (WEWUS)
Transgender Parliamentary Party: Katy Montgomerie (5596 - 26.3%) (+2.5%)
Transform: November Caldwell-Kelly (5340 - 25.1%) (NEW)
Nationalist and Regionalist: Amber Roberts (5362 - 25.2%) (+2%)
Social Credit: Ellen Murray (2000 - 9.4%) (-0.9%)
Liberal: Helen Belcher 1085 - 5.1% (-17.8%)
Women's Parliamentary Party: Anya Tremayne (808 - 3.8%) (NEW)
Labour: Steph Richards (766 - 3.6%) (-20.2%)
Let Women Speak: Anne Marie Waters (276 - 1.3%) (NEW)
Reality Party: Jaimie Wallis (6 - 0.03%) (NEW)

WEWUS was the most hotly contested constituency of the night, being the only one without an incumbent. Transform and the TPP put up a strong fight here as did the nationalist parties who had impressed trans voters with the SNP's unsucessful push for gender self-ID. On offer were three views of trans people's place in politics - integrated into the men and women's parliaments (TPP), separate until such a time as sexism and transphobia are abolished along with the split parliaments (Transform), and represented in national parliaments (Nationalist)

LWS was represented by noted anti-immigration and anti-Zionism campaigner Anne Marie Waters. Protests outside of polling stations were particularly heated and in Exeter they spilled over into violence between Let Women Speak voters and Sex Skeptic protestors who mistakenly believed they were arguing with a large group of trans people. The police were forced to escort Let Women Speak voters into the polling station. However, this led to violence as LWS voters clashed with transgender people who were also trying to get there. The press initially reported this as trans voters attacking Let Women Speak however the story was dropped as further details of what happened came out.

Jaimie Wallis, the Reality Party candidate, was technically an incumbent, having been a Conservative MP before he was forced to admit to being transgender. He has not transitioned and sees his trans femininity as a fetish.

5042 votes were removed from TPP at national selection.

NATIONAL SEAT
Transform 11442
Liberal 6820
Social Credit 5403
Labour 3354
Women's Parliamentary Party 3000
Let Women Speak - 1256
Reality - 39
Transgender Parliamentary Party Negative votes

Due to violence outside of polling stations the polls stayed open until 12 midnight and vote counts were delayed until the next day in order to avoid protests. This did not work and the few counts left open experienced protests on both sides over police action during the election, and the fact that trans people had a parliament at all.

ROUND 1 4PM
Transform 11442
Liberal 6820
Social Credit 5403
Labour 3354
Women's Parliamentary Party 3000
Let Women Speak - 1295
Reality - Transferred to LWS
Transgender Parliamentary Party Negative votes

The Reality Party transferred their small number of votes to Let Women Speak, whose leader stated in an interview on News of the World TV that the Reality Parties 39 voters were "disgusting fetishists no better than any other voter in this ridiculous parody of an election"

ROUND TWO 4:45 PM
Transform 11442
Liberal 6820
Social Credit 5403
Labour 3354
Women's Parliamentary Party 3000
Let Women Speak - Declined to transfer
Reality - Transferred to LWS
Transgender Parliamentary Party Negative votes

Posie Parker refused to transfer her parties votes to any other party as "so-called-trans people are all rapists or mentally ill and none of them deserve to sit in Parliament". When asked if she would have endorsed the Reality Party she laughed for about ten seconds before saying "no".

ROUND THREE 5:15 PM
Transform 11442
Liberal 9820
Social Credit 5403
Labour 3354
Women's Parliamentary Party - Transferred to Liberal
Let Women Speak - Declined to transfer
Reality - Transferred to LWS
Transgender Parliamentary Party Negative votes

The Women's Parliamentary Party transferred their votes to the Liberals as they had agreed to do before the election.

ROUND FOUR 5:45 PM
Liberal 13174
Transform 11442
Social Credit 5403
Labour - Transferred to Liberal
Women's Parliamentary Party - Transferred to Liberal
Let Women Speak - Declined to transfer
Reality - Transferred to LWS
Transgender Parliamentary Party Negative votes

Labour transferred their votes to the Liberals as they had agreed to do before the election.

ROUND FIVE 10:15 PM
Transform 16845 - November Caldwell Kelly Elected
Liberal 13174
Social Credit - Transferred to Transform
Labour - Transferred to Liberal
Women's Parliamentary Party - Transferred to Liberal
Let Women Speak - Declined to transfer
Reality - Transferred to LWS
Transgender Parliamentary Party Negative votes

Initial transfers were very quick, however Social Credit took hours to deliberate. The Party's steering group made a deal for concessions with the Liberals in the Women and Men's Parliaments and asked for votes to be transferred to the Liberals. However, Social Credit candidates in this election refused to vote for this. In a discussion after the count Ellen Murray said "I'm technically a member of the Irish Social Credit Party anyway, so the SCGB giving me orders was a bit weird. If the SCGB wanted trans people to put our interests behind their party's maybe they should have supported their own trans members before the Scottish party disaffiliated with them over transphobia."

The Conservative Party boycotted the election, claiming that they disagree with the existence of the parliament in any case. Although leaks indicate that a serious effort was made to find any remaining trans members who may wish to stand.

The final result in this election was

Transgender Parliamentary Party: 3 (+1)
Transform: 1 (+1)

Liberal: 0 (-2)
Labour: 0 (-3)

Electoral commentators noted with discomfort that mainstream political parties are no longer represented in the Third House and fear that this can only lead to an increasing radicalisation on the issue of sex-identity. When asked in a BBC interview whether this was a concern newly elected November Caldwell-Kelly said "even though I'm an MP now I'm only allowed on this show if you also have a sex skeptic nut job to argue with me." After an interruption she went on "Let this radicalise you. We didn't start this fight but we're still going to be here when the other side get bored and find someone else to go after."

Voters enjoy voting for parties that consistently uphold their interests and voice their concerns, for my next trick I will

First time I’ve seen Dylan Tippetts in a list based thing before. Interestingly he’s not really said much on Labour Politics from what I’ve seen, mainly focusing on boring Councillor stuff.
I hadn't heard about him before. It's getting really hard to find transgender Labour people who are still in it - none of the people I used last time are still in the party that I could see. These days I feel like Labour people are either appalling people are very focused on doing good work in a practical sense, so that makes sense. I think he was the one who said when he was elected that he wanted people to judge him on his work not his gender. Which is a vibe

Thanks - strangereal is such a good term for that vibe and yeah it's one I always enjoy

The Hillsborough Agreement (1993) was a Multilateral Agreement made between the various different parties of the Northern Ireland conflict overseen by officials from America as part of the Northern Irish Peace Process. The agreement would lead to the creation of a Devolved Power Sharing Assembly based from Stormont, the beginning of parliamentary disarmament and a creation of new administrative authority for Northern Ireland in both Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Agreement would be a long process with initial efforts to find a solution for the secterian violence in Northern Ireland was being made during the late years of the Wakeham government under partial pressure by the Hart Administration, but under the Smith Government did the building blocks to create ‘The Hillsborough Agreement’ begin to form.

Helping matters was the recognition by Unionists that in the wake of the Anglo-Irish Agreement, a new way to retain some form of control in Northern Ireland would be needed. This would be controversial, as the integrationist wing within the Ulster Unionists still held some sway, but through collaboration with similarly like minded Loyalists, a compromise seemed to be possible. Meanwhile the SDLP and efforts by John Hume to try and bring about a ceasefire from the PIRA would bear some fruits in the autumn of 1992 followed soon after by Loyalists doing the same before the end of that year, after a series of brutal tit for tat killings throughout 1991 to 1992 which seem almost unravel Northern Ireland.

The Agreement would begin taking shape throughout the early period of 1993, spurned somewhat by Hart’s push in his final months in office being to try and help bringing about peace in Northern Ireland and McCusker cancer reemergence which gave the affair a sense of urgency. Whilst Sinn Fèin would quickly walkout the meetings, and Ian Paisley threatened several times to lead his own walk out, the creation of the Hillsborough Agreement would be signed into effect on the 14th of August of 1993, being a major part in the turbulent but ultimately successful Peace Process in Northern Ireland.

Political Representatives at the Hillsborough Agreement (1993)

Ulster Unionist: Harold McCusker (Leader)* | Frank Miller Jr. (Chairman)
Democratic Unionist:
Ian Paisley (Leader) | Peter Robinson (Deputy)
Social Democratic Labour:
John Hume (Leader) | Seamus Mallon (Deputy)
Sinn Fèin: Martin McGuinness (President)** | Pat Doherty (Vice President)
Alliance: John Alderdice (Leader) | Will Glendinning (Deputy)
Democratic Left:
Proinsias De Rossa (Leader) | Seamus Lynch (Head of NI Section)

National Representatives at Hillsborough Agreement (1993)

Great Britian: John Smith (Prime Minister) | Ann Clwyd (Northern Ireland Secretary)
Republic of Ireland:
Gerry Collins (Taoiseach) | Charlie McCreevy (Foreign Minister)
United States of America:
James Baker (Peace Envoy for Northern Ireland)

* Initially McCusker lead his team to the various discussions but a return of his cancer would lead to him designating much of the work to a team consisting of primarily Frank Millar Jr. and David Trimble. Harold McCusker would die on the 4th of October of 1993, just before the first election of the new Devolved Irish Assembly.

** Martin McGuinness initially would enter the talks, but disagreements between the Unionists and his team and rumblings within Sinn Féin over the matter would lead to him walking out. Sinn Fèin would agree to sign the eventual agreement though and would enter the 93’ assembly as ‘constructive opposition’ promising to ensure the survival of the assembly.

The Not Deer (Mustela indutus), also called "False Deer" or "Deer Mimic", is the largest land-dwelling species of the family Mustelidae, known primarily for it's mimicry of cervids, namely White Tail or Red Deer, a form of Aggressive Mimicry not usually found in herbivorous mammals. Sporadic sightings, coupled with their recorded habitats, in remote reaches of the Northern boreal forests and subarctic and alpine tundra of the Northern Hemisphere, have made the Not Deer difficult to study and categorise. The accepted theory by biologists is that the species, originally an unknown type of larger weasel or stoat, evolved to resemble deer in size and shape as to deceive individuals or infiltrate smaller groups, before suddenly attacking and consuming them. It has been noted, however, to occasionally prey on smaller animals such as rabbits. While not all observed specimens sport the growths, the Not Deer's 'antlers' themselves serve no defensive purpose, and are made of hardened cartilage and fibrous tissue. How these growths form, and why individual Not Deer are seen without them, remains unknown.

The Tcetin (Cetaeni surreptus), more commonly referred to as "Crawlers", is a species of New World Monkey, unique in being the only boreal primate in North America. It is the largest of the Atelidae family of primates (which includes Howler and Spider monkeys), growing a height averaging between 121cm and 152cm, tho encounters with larger specimens up to 180cm have been reported. Whilst difficult to ascertain it's origin and movements due to sparse sightings, contemporary biologists ascertained the Tcetin could have been present in regions of North America as far back as 1000 BCE, citing the oral histories of the native tribes from which it gets it's name. The species is often misidentified as Fleshgaits, Skinwalkers (a misappropriation of the Navajo yee naaldlooshii), Rakes, the Goat-man, Devil Monkeys, the Hide-behind, the Dog-man and the Sasquatch.

While adapted to the colder climates, the Tcetin has been documented as occupying karst caves, disused bear dens and, following the intervention of settlers in North America, abandoned mineshaft tunnels to keep warm. They are understood to be solitary and reclusive, tho due to further encroachment into their territories resulting in deforestation, can be aggressive. It is omnivorous, feeding on berries and roots while occasionally catching and eating smaller prey such as hares, mice, squirrels, foxes and grouse. Predation on humans, while uncommon, is not an impossibility, tho it is possible reports have conflated aggressive territorial displays as attempted attacks.

I was not aware that you had a phobia of shapeshifters, my utmost condolences

I really adore shapeshifter content to some extent myself
I do not trust shapeshifters,Strong Bad taught me that.

That is why I always vote for him in the rigged elections that occur in Strongbadia.

oh don't worry man i'm just goofing, i love the content regardless. hell, my favorite movie is John Carpenter's The Thing lmao.

wait if they aren't shape shifters, are they just a weird evolved species that originated as some other creature? i guess i was kinda misunderstanding the list.

yeah i'm terrified of the idea of shapeshifters and i get incredibly uncomfortable around things like mannequins. have no idea where it comes from but it always bothers the hell out of me.

i still love shape shifter content tho, everyone loves to make media out of the things that terrify them. unless ur a real "i don't like horror movies" type
