First Party System (1867-1887):
Nationalist Party: Right-wing, nationalism, centralism, elitism, traditionalism, free trade (faction)
Formed by the supporters of Jefferson Davis (as well as members of the Knights of the Golden Circle), it quickly the Nationalist party was best described as that of the planter elite and military men who wished to expand both the government's power as well as the country's borders.
Whig Party: Center-right to right-wing, states' rights, decentralization, protectionism, conservatism, parliamentarianism (faction)
Founded by those who criticized the Davis administration (such as their surprising lack of support for state's rights), the Whig Party was essentially the party for all those who went opposed the centralization of the nation's government.

Second Party System (1887-1909):
Nationalist Party: Right-wing, traditionalism, centralism, elitism, pro-British sentiment, free trade (faction)
The Nationalist Party essentially stayed the same, however, they began to focus on preserving the old ways of the south. They also began to focus on keeping closer to Britain than France.
Whig Party: Center-left to center-right, industrialization, modernization, decentralization, pro-French sentiment, populism (faction)
During the presidency of Longstreet, the Whig Party switched its focus from states' rights to bring about a proposed "New South" through the industrialization and modernization of the South. They also began to focus on keeping closer to France than Britain.

Third Party System (1909-1921):
Conservative Party: Right-wing, conservatism, industrialization, elitism, paternalism, free trade (faction)
As soon as the planter class embraced industrialization, the two main parties of the Confederacy joined together to preserve slavery, trade with their allies, and keep the poor in their place.
Agrarian Labor: Big-tent (economically left-wing, socially far-right), anti-elitism, populism, agrarianism, white supremacy, white socialism (faction)
Established due to the backlash from the modernization of Dixieland and the factory bosses' choice to use slave labor over good ol' white workers, the Agrarian Labor Party was an electoral coalition united against the elite and their slaves comprised of poor farmers, populists, white supremacists, and labor unionists.

Fourth Party System (1923-):
Agrarian Labor: Big-tent (economically left-wing, socially far-right), authoritarianism, populism, agrarianism, white supremacy, white socialism (faction)
Following the Agrarian Labor Party and their "Redneck" cronies' victory in the Civil War, the new regime took on an increasingly dictatorial tone.

God I should probably consider doing a Sandman ATLF at some point or other...

The People’s Republic(ans) - Republicans and Populists fuse, eventually leading America down a very strange place.
POD: Grover Cleveland does not run in 1892.
This does sound like a fascinating idea and Marion Butler is fascinating. What would happen to Britain here given that these new Republicans would likely be protectionists which fucks the Free Traders in the Liberals and Conservatives a bit.

The Bel-Air Kid - An America without a President Reagan instead chooses a much more compassionate and moderate Californian…
POD: Alphonzo E. Bell Jr. wins his 1976 race for Senate.

Man Was Meant to Be Free - President Stassen leads the GOP down the road of moderation.
POD: Tom sticks to his gut and refuses to debate Stassen.
I like the theme of a Moderate GOP here. Bell Jr would likely be a fascinating figure in Republican politics and have vast ramifications and Stassen would certainly keep parts of the New Deal though also the Red Scare would still be a thing (and the CPUSA buggered which probably helps Left Wingers to find a new home elsewhere etc.)
