Honestly, it’s about time this meme needs to die. The overton window moved significantly to the left in the US, and very very few centre-left Europeans call themselves ‘Marxists’ or even ‘socialist’.

I remember someone saying something along the lines of "if you think Bernie Sanders is centrist in Europe, try comparing him to Tony Blair".
The US may be to the right of the developed world in a good few areas, but it's not like Europe doesn't have its own various messes.

A lot of European center left to center people call themselves socialists because their parties kept their labels despite massive drift to the center.
Marxist I'll give you, but that one is also vanishingly rare in US politicians.
