Review: Three Miles Down by Harry Turtledove

I know it probably isn't the whole story but I love the US using a sunken Soviet sub as the story behind the cover story that's actually a cover story itself because they think the Soviets won't know any better.

"Yuri, did we lose a submarine in the Pacific?"

"I don't know, Leonid, but if the Americans say it I suppose we did."

Three weeks later K-129 pulls into Vladivostok and its captain warmly greets his countrymen.

"Nice try, Tex."

I read it cover to cover in one evening, and the only bit I struggled to progress through was the 3rd quarter. The first half was great, and the last quarter was great. The third though, kind of dragged.
