Let's say that in the 17th and 18th centuries, the Ottomans and Safavids are more successful in establishing control over the Georgian Kingdoms. How many Georgians would have converted to Islam? FWIW, the Ottomans were very successful in Islamizing Tao-Klarjeti and Adjara. If most Georgians convert to Islam, do they remain Georgian speaking or are they Turkified? The Georgians of Tao-Klarjeti were Turkified while Georgians from Adjara remained Georgian speaking because the Ottomans had little direct control there until 1850 with it being largely controled by Muslim Georgian nobility. Anyways, this means Russian expansion into the South Caucasus never occurs as in our timeline, the Russians were invited by the Georgians to protect them from the Persians and Ottomans.
