I've got it in mind to make another fake TV show, this time a sci-fi/martial arts action thing inspired by Babylon 5 and the more mystical Shaw Brothers movies, along with a dash of Firefly and the underworld bits of Star Wars. It ran for three seasons on Syfy between 2017 and 2020.

Set in the 24th century when humanity has begun to expand beyond the Lagidze Gap, a sort of funnel allowing hyper-light travel outside a small area centered on Earth's solar system. A wide galaxy lies beyond the Gap, one that was once governed by a vast, peaceful Confederation that has recently collapsed with great loss of life and technological regression.

Anne and Maggie Brophy were once among the high and mighty, their family reaping great rewards from fat government contracts to explore and trade beyond the Gap... only for it to all come crashing down in a single bloody night of treachery and murder. Now they operate a single aging freighter on the farthest fringes of known space... one seeks to reclaim what they lost, the other to start a new life. They are joined by Tang Zhaoan, an ex-soldier and gun for hire, Isabel Ramirez, the pilot and joint-owner of the Silver Star, and OWL, the ship's AI.

A few more ideas...

The 'home base' of the Silver Star is Barrier 7, one of hundreds of massive space stations that were once placed along the whole length of the Gap (which is about 2 light years across and 100 light years long). It was once exclusively a military facility but since the Civil War has become home to a huge civilian population, including the Brophy sisters (when they're around, anyway). The station is still nominally under command of Senya Kem (Leven Rambin), a Varyar general, but she has allowed the creation of a civilian advisory council representing the major population factions of Barrier 7. She commands a small fleet, increasingly ragged as each season goes by, and tries to maintain a semblance of the old law and prosperity in the area around Barrier 7.

Aside from the Varyar, the other major local species is the Sethos, a reptilian folk and a relatively new and brash member of the old Commonwealth. There are tens of thousands of them on Barrier 7, including two members of the advisory council.
