I could be snarky and say that a vignette is "what Harry Turtledove is best at writing".

I asked Gary to do this one more so I could provide some context when we put up vignettes on the front page. Your article is obviously also great but is more focused on the act of writing one rather than explaining what they are. Though TBF there is some overlap, so maybe in future I can alternate between reposting Gary's article and yours when reminding people what they are.

Also @Gary Oswald I ironically ran out of character limit when posting the article which I asked you to write because there isn't enough character limit to explain what vignettes are when posting them... so you are 'Mr Oswald' by necessity in this one, we're not suddenly on more formal terms

I would suggest that for that purpose, my article covers different ground and is significantly longer. It should be consigned to the archives.
