Things that look like alternate history but aren't

Speaking of Albania, I recall commenting how Rita Ora and Dua Lipa feels like a clear case of the writer of OTL having forgotten he'd already used an idea for popcultural development and accidentally duplicated the same character and backstory.

Rita Ora is to Dua Lipa as Jay Garrick and Alan Scott are to Barry Allen and Hal Jordan (or Wally West and John Stewart).

Following WW2, wargaming became a favorite hobby of middle-aged British ladies.

I've a friend who doesn't get it.
So the actual context, is that in the 1985 the fans of the Hanshin tigers baseball team threw that statue of Colonel Sanders into the main canal of Osaka as part of celebrating them winning the national finals. This caused a 40 year run of generally poor results which ended last year with the team winning last year.

The statue had been fished out a few years back and has been kept an KFC japan hq (i think) since but the condition of it is now so poor that they are going to ceremony burn it.

The sixth-tallest statue in the United States (the Wikipedia article says fifth but I think they're leaving out Birth of the New World in Puerto Rico?) is this extremely socialist-looking guy:

The eighth-largest is this statue of the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara (known locally as Quan Ân) in Đất Đường, Téc Xật... that is, Sugar Land, Texas:

This is a position that still exists.
Well, why wouldn't it?

and the elevation from Mayor to Lord Mayor happened in 2011. Unreal.
...OK, that's worthy of the thread.

While Lord Mayors also still exist in Britain itself, former British colonies often preserve usages that have ceased to be used in Britain itself:

A similar example is the fact that the Dáil in the RoI has university seats (albeit for the upper house).
