The Manson Incident

I was reading up on the Manson Family. Namely the Sharon Tate murder.

That night there was to be a party. Invited but not attending was: Steve McQueen, Quincy Jones, a stunt man friend of Tate, and Tate's co-star in the "wrecking crew" Bruce Lee.

Now the Manson Family murders was this huge event. It was this thing that man all the hippies into blood thirsty murdering monsters one joint away from killing a nice normal family.

Yet... WI instead of the house being full of a pregnant woman, a hair dresser, an heiress, and more it also had some surprisingly tough men and alongside it Bruce freaking Lee.

Now the start is the murders are an event and not THE EVENT of the late 60s. Yet there is other notions like how careers are effected when up and coming actress, soon to be famous Asian actor, Hollywood "tough guy" and more become the media darlings for weeks if not months due to the stopping of the murders.

Now a lone set of murders will not ruin a nation or change the course of history but in a cultural sense I see that free love and hippie notion taking root for a little while longer. Cities do not have the Manson Murders to point at and say "that is why we must stop the commune!"

This could have a big impact on Bruce Lee's career. He always wanted to stay in America and make movies/TV shows here, but because of racial sentiment at the time he had to go to Hong Kong to fulfill his dreams. If he becomes a national hero he might get better roles and be allowed to make his own stuff. And if that's successful it might convince Hollywood to accept more non-white actors down the road.

It also likely butterflies Bruce's entirely avoidable death which would have all sorts of impacts on Asian American, martial arts, and film history.

For Lee it depends on when Equagesic was discontinued in America. If it was pre-OTL death of Lee then his death would be a non-issue.
