Whilst this is a POD that has appeared quite a few times I haven’t seen much discussion on it (if there’s a thread on it, please direct me there).
But anyway, what if the PIRA manages to actually ’take out’ Thatcher in some way (I feel a little ghoulish having her die, so let’s say heavily injured) and what would some of the immediate and long term effects be?
I think We would probably see a swift Conservative leadership election, with the winner possibly being Michael Heseltine given he hasn’t managed to burn all his bridges yet. We would also definitely see a crackdown on the IRA and possible IRA sympathisers too (which is awkward Labour’s Hard Left at the time).
