If John Kerry won the 2004 Presidential election, how would his first term have gone?

How would he have handled the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq?

What policies would a Kerry adminstration try and pass through congress?

How would a Kerry adminstration tackle the global financial crisis, and the 2008 Recession?

Rehnquist would presumably still have died in 2005, which would have meant a liberal 5-4 Supreme Court. O'Connor would probably still have retired because of her husband's health problems, which would have meant a liberal 6-3 Supreme Cour. Stevens and Souter may have retired earlier, consolidating the liberal majority for years.

Expanding on this, Souter would certainly have retired as he hated being in the Court and wanted to retire as soon as a Democrat was President. Stevens is more uncertain.
