Prequel Problems: Deny Thy Father

Pressman being unrelated to  this cconspiracy is a nice touch.

(The TNG dating was absolutely about cutting off TOS returns. Lance Parkin argued in his Roddenberry biography that Gene may have been making sure TNG, and thus Trek, was all about him & his ideas and not, say, Nimoy playing Spock )

Very likely so, given Roddenberry got stroppy about them even featuring Vulcans in the background of TNG.

The vast gap works out for giving TNG era its own feel and space to grow (even if it means "Vulcans and Klingons live ages so Spock can show up"), and a bit sad Paramount didn't dare do that with Discovery until LD and Picard were out.

Very much agree that Discovery's lack of past aesthetics is part of what wrecks it. It doesn't look different enough to the 31st century either. Meanwhile, in an interview the LD showrunner said Locarno's fleet are meant to look not-Trek, these guys have walked away from Trek.
