In the early 90s, Murdoch saw two lucrative paths to focus on in the next decade, live broadcasting of Football or Pornography. The latter was not chosen due to the risk involved, but what if instead of helping found the Premier League, Murdoch invests heavily in pornography?

He becomes a more successful version of Richard Desmond,I guess?

Idk,it’s hard to say. Murdoch is already powerful enough, this won’t hurt him. Just slightly damage his image.

That and he already had/has a porn empire of sorts OTL.

The only real difference is that his porn empire is centered more in Italy instead of Britain where it’s less noticeable.

Richard Desmond's bigger, meaner brother - aside from rude jokes, it probably doesn't hurt him in the UK at the time. "The guy who does Page 3 also does porn!" Be seen as more of the same.

Considering some of the stuff that goes on in porn, that may hurt him and News Corporation later on; it would not be good for the Times, or for various political bigwigs, to be associated with the inevitable abuse case. Or even with changing attitudes, because when the Tories are talking about the nastiness of internet porn, does Cameron want to be seen talking with Mucky Murdoch?

The Premier League ending up with free-to-all-TVs ITV instead of Sky is going to be huge too, but I dunno enough about football to judge how. (Probably not great for satellite TV takeup either, so you'd have a backsplash on what TV we watch)
