Now that's a twist and a half. Not sure I've ever come across a murder mystery where the entire concept of 'motive' in the traditional sense is a red herring.
I can think of one recent one which does something slightly similar, but I can't really say which one without spoiling it by definition.

The AH setting was kind of a red herring, too - our knowledge of Great Power political rivalries nudging us (me, at least) towards assuming some nationalist motive.
