Bourbon is made half from corn from what I know.

Even though Kentucky and Tennessee are known for Whiskey, they are one of those regions that still have lots of dry counties.

Yeah but I’ve had bourbon (and a tiny bit of scotch)-just trying to figure out what tastes different about rye beyond just the composition.


IIRC, Jack Daniel’s distillery is in a dry county and the only legal liquor sold in the area is whiskey sold in the distillery gift shop in closed bottles.

Bourbon county KY was dry until like 2014 too.
 
how much can you get from horseracing? like it’s a gambling scheme that’s obvious, but are there people out there who loves watching horseracing, despite how obviously short every race is? they last like ten seconds and by the time The Captain’s Fuckpipe upsets Grondleslep surely everyone hasnt even gotten halfway through their mint julep
 
been so angry lately; probably a confluence of the worsening of things for its particular political focuses (trans people and neurodivergence) as well as just that its been extremely lonely and bottling up a lot of feelings, which is starting to steam out like a teakettle. as much as you can say "idk bro have you considered not caring", it would usually deal with that frustration by chatting about it with friends, who are all stuck in exam season.

point being if it seems more politically aggressive around here, thats kind of a seeping of generalised emotional despair. it's trying to keep it down

something its been thinking about - batman fans hate it when you say “if bruce wayne wants to stop crime why is he tough on crime and not on the causes of crime” because, you know, that defeats the purpose, but it thinks there’d be an interesting story in the fact that gotham is an exploitative shithole and bruce has decided that the most efficient solution to the mass of gang warfare, organised crime and petty theft is, uh, fear that you’ll have the shit beaten out of you.

it’d be surprised if it hasn’t been done, considering just how much batman there is out there

I mean,he is as Bruce Wayne,it’s just that Gotham is canonically built on a Satanic ritual ground and every single supernatural person is too busy to stop it because literally every day there is a demonic attack or some other similar shit somewhere in the world and they don’t have time.

At this point it would be better if everyone just left Gotham,nuked it and salted the Earth. If anything,Batman is doing too much already and is viewed by Damien,The League of Shadows and Hawkman as a goddamn liberal who bothers sending people to jail instead of killing on the spot-though Hawkman would insist on murdering with maces as slowly as humanly possible just for jaywalking because holy shit is he fucking crazy.

The only reason why he is in the JLA is because he can reincarnate/is immortal and is only slightly calmed by being allowed in the JLA. Nobody likes him,they get used to him because they just can’t stop him.

ignoring the fact that comics continuity is always doing shit like this, the first point sounds honestly like a poorly planned excuse for not addressing the fact that gotham, you know, sucks and will never stop sucking because that’s the plot and that if all the Crime goes away Batman will need to find a new hyperfixation. it’s all very “all the aliens in star trek are humanoid because of a weird founding species making copies of themselves across the galaxy”, you know?

it’s not even arguing wayne is far-right, he’s beating the shit out of random street thugs for mental health reasons - more that it feels like this is something that should be fictionally questioned.

also as for gotham getting nuked from orbit you don’t think comic irradiating everyone wouldnt make things worse?

also also considering the JLA is the boomer justice league its not surprised that hawkman is the kind of guy to say the kent state kids deserved it

it refuses to acknowledge “all
superheroes are fascists” discourse because, like, a central theme of a lot of superhero stories is about how power corrupts unless grounded in something else, and also that a lot of superheroes were made by working class jewish guys in 1930s new york.

it won’t deny they can be fascistic, but if feels like throwing the baby out with the bathwater if you’re gonna shrug and say “a portrayal of someone with superhuman power who helps people is inherently fascist”
