Independent American monarchy

I think an elective monarchy would eventually become de facto hereditary once there was a king who had sons and actively tried to ensure their place as his heir and successor. Also, I believe Hamilton had a proposal at the Constitutional Convention that the chief executive should be a "Governor" elected for life, so I could see that position becoming an American monarchy. I also suspect Hamilton, after being prime minister under Governor Washington, would seek that position for himself.

Could it possibly have become an elected title, of sorts? Senate meets to vote on a King for life without it becoming hereditary?

Combine this with a reformed Articles instead of a Constitution, and the U.S. starts looking like the HRE, which is probably closer to what many of the Founders wanted anyway lol.
