Like George Steinbrenner, Angels owner Gene Autry seized the opportunity of free agency to spend big and beef up the team. Unlike Steinbrenner, the Angels fell short during his lifetime. IOTL, they finished five games back in 1978 and actually made the playoffs in 1979 and 1982, losing to the Orioles and Brewers.

Would there be any ripples/butterflies if they'd actually won at least one championship in that period, as could have plausibly happened? Their reputation has always been in the Dodgers shadow, so would World Series titles change that to a meaningful degree?
