In a letter to Vera Zasulich dated 8 March 1881, Marx contemplated the possibility of Russia's bypassing the capitalist stage of development and building communism on the basis of the common ownership of land characteristic of the village mir.[144][189] While admitting that Russia's rural "commune is the fulcrum of social regeneration in Russia", Marx also warned that in order for the mir to operate as a means for moving straight to the socialist stage without a preceding capitalist stage it "would first be necessary to eliminate the deleterious influences which are assailing it [the rural commune] from all sides".[190] Given the elimination of these pernicious influences, Marx allowed that "normal conditions of spontaneous development" of the rural commune could exist.

Star Wars: Duel of the Fates (also known as Star Wars: Episode IX – Duel of the Fates) is a 2019 American epic space opera film produced, co-written, and directed by Colin Trevorrow. Produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the third instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), and the final episode of the nine-part "Skywalker saga". It follows Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron, following the deaths of Senator Leia Organa and Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, as they lead the Resistance's final stand against Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and the First Order, who have fully conquered the New Republic.

Lauded for its exploration of the moral grey area between the Jedi and the Sith, both protagonists of the film seek to deconstruct the dichotomy between the two. While Rey rejects her supposed destiny of reestablishing the Jedi order, Kylo Ren has all but abandoned his position as Supreme Leader, instead voyaging to find the pillars of the Force and destroy them. The conflict between the two isn't just a battle between good and evil -- both are seeking to try something new, in two different and totally radical directions that both end with the destruction of the Force.

As a parallel to Yoda, Kylo Ren finds himself under the tutelage of the mysterious Tor Valum, a diminutive spider creature with immense psychic power, using it not only on the entire ecosystem of the planet Korriban, but also puppeteering both Emperors Palpatine and Snoke through telepathic suggestion. Tho not portrayed inherently evil, Tor Valum hinted at the intention of the Sith -- and the subsequent eradication of the Jedi, the only ones powerful enough to defeat him -- as means to an end, bringing the entire universe into absolute order. Realising his entire life, as well as the lives of generations before him, have been at the will of a single, selfish being, Kylo slays Valum and vows to slay all remaining Jedi, wiping the universe clean and starting anew. His escape from Korriban, with its hostile wildlife now free from Valum's control, nearly results in his death.

Meanwhile, Rey, Finn and Poe carry out violent and often highly destructive raids against the First Order, attempting to free the galaxy through subterfuge and guerrilla warfare, using a posthumous recording of Leia to rally the galaxy against tyranny. As most of the galaxy has come under the dictatorship of the Order, now lead by General Hux, the Resistance works to sabotage supply lines and inspire on-the-ground uprisings against the occupying forces - this calumniates with Finn and Jannah (a former Stormtrooper, like him) leading a squadron of retrofitted Walkers against the First Order on the planet Kef Bir, where most of the third act takes place. All the while, Rey is hounded by the force ghost of Luke Skywalker, chiding her for rejecting the pacifist ways of the Force. Rey firmly responds that the Jedi way was what lead the galaxy to endless strife, just as the Sith did, and wants nothing more than to let the universe decide its own fate.

August 11, 1971: In the face of losing the proxy war, President Agnew and Secretary of Defence Westmorland come to the agreement for nukes to be deployed to South Vietnam. As they are flown over Vietnamese airspace, the plane is shot upon by a Viet Cong anti-aircraft gun, during which one of the soldiers aboard, Private First Class Lee Oswald, suffers a mental break and forcibly drops a single bomb. The swamp water settled in the Rung Sat Special Zone is vaporised, while Ho Chi Minh City is irradiated by seismic hellfire.

Above is a photograph showing American soldiers, stationed further down the Lòng Tàu River, reacting to the subsequent mushroom cloud. All four pictured, as well as the six others in the troop, would die months later from acute radiation sickness, all blissfully unaware how the rest of the world was teetering on the edge of Mutually Assured Destruction.
