Biaggi’s Second Opium Den

You wanna live under the Black Sun? You’re living under it. It’s in Nike Techs, convenient stores you use for flicks, puff bars, Babytron, Future, SNKRS, AAU 15u burnouts, grinches, Instagram, Lavar Ball, Ice Spice, white guys with fades - the Nazis won white man, and all you got out of it was this cheap plastic crap!

I think the fundamental problem of trying to predict future politics is that you can't really account for how rapidly people can rise in politics, especially on the activist/radical side. Five years ago people like AOC or Boebert were total randos.

Future politics writers have to either fill their stories with OCs or limit themselves to present day rising stars.

future history writers when they wake up to jared polis vs matt gaetz elections every 4 years

y'all ain't got any idea how long my dumbass has spent searching thru the like, Oklahoma Department of Parks and Recreation website to find potential future candidates. every time i get ideas for future history timelines i spend like six hours scrolling thru the pages of obscure law firms, activist groups, local governments and labor organizations to find candidates that are interesting enough to fit into the TL.

I was gonna say something to that effect but couldn’t phrase it right. Still not 100% convinced that Sparky von Plinksy IV is a real person

-On the other side we have an authoritarian, right-wing anarcho-capitalist nightmare led by a sentient 1930s imaginary teddy bear that engages in neoimperialism and modern-day feudalism required to fuel a permanent underclass with no social safety benefits.
man as much as I dislike China this is such a poor way to describe it, it's blatantly orientalist too

this is an ancient debate though so not going to touch it itself

A lot of AH writers have an aversion to just making up fictional people. Even when the PoD is so far back that person wouldnt be born realistically

Do elaborate.

Nothing I said was remotely offensive or incorrect, aside from the Winnie the Pooh remark (which is common, not something I invented).

China does have a permanent underclass and no welfare benefits. The Hukou system, to be precise.

China is an anarcho capitalist nightmare. See both the point above and the fact that they have almost comically non-existent.

As someone who is left leaning, I don't understand why I shouldn't be more mad at Cyberpunk 2077 LARPing as a socialist utopia then a capitalist hellhole that is quite clear about being a capitalist hellhole.
