I can't really see McGovern going back into Vietnam after pulling out, or going so far as to turn it into a US protectorate. I think if McGovern was going to increase US involvement in SE Asia anywhere it would be in Cambodia. Fun list though, Gunderson aside.
 
Actually, I'm curious. Was turning South Vietnam into an outright protectorate a serious proposal at any point?
