The (final) death of Apophis makes for a big demarcation point for SG-1, now we really step up the seeding of the Ancients, ascension, and Anubis. The seemingly disparate elements that go towards that build stand in stark contrast to the introduction of the Ori in later seasons, which is all packed into one or two episodes to introduce a new foe completely detached from all the other elements in the series to that point.
