What if Piggate along with evidence came out in the run-up to the 2010 general election?

Imagine David Cameron's pig incident comes out in the campaign for the 2010 general election, let's say a few days after the first televised debate, and that there's photo/video evidence of its veracity leaked. How much does a personal scandal with the Tories' leader such as this damage the reputation and electoral fate of the party as a whole in 2010? Perhaps even leading to Nick Clegg rather than Cameron being viewed as the main non-Labour candidate for PM?

Isn't the whole thing with Piggate that Lord Ashcroft was narked off at Cameron not giving him a senior position within government despite giving the Tories outrageous donations, so concocted the story in revenge that he couldn't buy a seat at Cabinet with Isabel Oakeshott for a biography published by Biteback, a publishing imprint which Ashcroft owns

This is all probably true but David Cameron also definitely fucked a pig.

Did Cameron not fuck that pig?

This is all probably true but David Cameron also definitely fucked a pig.

The answer to this is 'no, it's utter bollocks and there's plenty of things to attack him for that he actually did so lets leave this in the unfunny joke trash pile where it belongs.'

The claim coming out in 2010 (let's say Ashcroft is annoyed earlier) likely gets seen as a deliberate political attack and, while "lol pig" still comes up, we also get a lot of stern discourse about standards and how nasty politics is. That might mean the Tories have a problem going all-out on Miliband later, but probably not.

With Isabel Oakeshott

She wasn't going to do it but then she heard Cameron had just had a vaccine.

Ashcroft was very much inside the tent in 2010, in fact he was the tent, that’s why they fell out so much when he got the boot. Even if piggate was true, Ashcroft turning may be the hardest part of this to make happen.

There's not much to say about this other than it was very obviously ripped off from a Black Mirror episode and by that token I suppose is a salute to Black Mirror as it wasn't even an original fabrication.

I don't think Black Mirror could have come along a decade earlier but if it had and we'd have somehow, with butterfly death, got the same episode then we would, given the internal politics of Labour at the time, be hearing about this in respect of Blair and it would still be a mostly suppressed mental image I never asked to have to be dealing with.

One scenario that might be interesting is if the News of the World scandal blows up a year earlier, although it would likely be a plague on both houses with Brooks’ links with New Labour, and Cameron/Coulson. Could contribute to the anti-politics feeling alongside expenses and perhaps help the Lib Dems.
