Was avatars enabled for a bit?

Was it me or was avatars temporarily enabled for a bit?

I noticed this when I went to my account page and saw a big "T" in a circle, then figured why not upload an avatar since it was there.

Then a minute later things was back to normal, inexplicably.

I know we don't plan on avatars (good, imho), but this blip was odd to experience.

I see that avatar thing if the page is not fully loaded, but when I tried (by stopping the site from fully loading) no avatar can be uploaded through that. I think what happens is that avatars are a disabled feature, so they pop up while the site’s loading.

Avatars can’t be removed altogether, so we’re using a hack that removes them from view. Indicus is right.
