you know this is actually an interesting political scenario

as we all know the democrats largely split because the mob backed ethnic machines in the north broke with the segregationist backed machines in the south

what if the dixie mob comes in and starts their own mobbed up machines down south

i call it

Vegas In Dixie

folsom winning in ‘62 is a good start for this cause there’s no way wallace is sharing power with anyone but himself

also maybe a stronger labor presence idk

This is a low-key a smart/cursed way of keeping the New Deal Coalition around. Maybe Johnson doesn't waste all of his political capital on Vietnam and succeeds in repealing Taft-Hartley and right-to-work is destroyed?

Incredible. Simply incredible. We can even have the city party machines connected with Humphrey's ideas of an "American Marshall Plan" that included civic peace councils. Imagine all the machine shenanigans that would come about because of it.

The OG Jim Justice. I am interested though, what cause this big a divergence in nominees?
Probably with no Vietnam War and Union being empowered like hell it means 1966 is another 1962. This means Nixon probably decides to give up on his dream of making a comeback thanks to the failure in 1968. I think we would see Rocky/the Eastern establishment think outside the box as there seems to be no strong candidate. Maybe Brown doesn't run again and we get Governor Yorty instead? But yeah I think you can have a lot of fun with the Republicans failing totally in 1966.

As inevitable as tomorrow morning....

[3] Lol.
[4] Although the Continental League is good at bringing baseball back to NYC, the need for a Brooklyn baseball team is present, and NYC populist congressman Vito Battista spends a good decade attacking the MLB to bring a team to Brooklyn, despite his hatred of taxes.
[5] Daley is good at propaganda
[6] Originally named the "Independents" after Texas's "independent spirit" and Sam Houston's time as president of Texas, the team was nicknamed the I's, which has since stuck and become the general name for the team.
[7] Denver
[8] Dallas

Robert Wagner Jr. is definitely president in this timeline
