Batman: Gotham By Gaslight Film Review

I've always felt that the DC heroes felt out of place in post-1950s settings, and that in order to make them work as characters the society they operate in has to be artificially frozen at mid-20th century levels, even if the superficial trappings of modernity are otherwise present. But going the other way and introducing them to the late 19th century seems to work a lot better. Unsurprisingly so in the case of Batman, given how much inspiration the character draws from Sherlock Holmes.
