Sverre and Gwenifer.png
HRH Ætheling Sverre and his betrothed, HRH Princess Gwenifer, circa 19XX

Faceclaim: Tsar Nicholas II
Name: HRH Sverre II Constantine
House:
Tostig-Byrben
Date of Birth & Age at Ascension: 26 - 07 - 19XX | 33
Relation to the Previous Claimant: Second Son
(or younger brother)
Personality: Bookish, introverted, and patient. Despite his royal status Sverre is actually quite the shy man. Prone to stuttering when speaking and suffering bouts of anxiety when in front of crowds. With a will as strong as wet tissue paper and deep feelings of insecurity and a bad tendency to repeatedly doubt his own competency. He neither has his older brother's magnetic charisma nor his father's aura of authority. More akin to an intellectual than a prince, if it were up to Sverre he would spend most of his days reading in the royal library and/or anonymously writing and publishing annen verden novels. Alas, he is Cæsar, and though he would prefer to live a simple, quiet life. That is simply not viable with the nature of his station. For above all Sverre is responsible. Having been raised as his older brother's spare and sworn confidant, since young he has been taught of his royal duty. Of his obligation. His responsibilities as prince has been ingrained on him since he was but a child, and now that he is Cæsar he has developed a genuine attachment to his people and a deep desire to be a Cæsar worthy of their love. Whether or not he'd be able to do it is another question entirely.

Speaking of, when it comes to his dear Gwenifer he is generally sheepish and obedient. His love for her generally blinds him from her
many faults and allows her to abuse his powers indiscriminately. For in Sverre's eyes Gwenifer is not the hateful, domineering, and psychotic woman his court rudely insists her to be but instead the kind, delicate and vulnerable girl who loyally stood by his side when he needed her most. He is aware of the problems she causes, yes, but in his eyes there's still a chance that he could reform and change her for the better. It'll take some time, sure, but he's sure he could do it. He is very protective of Gwenifer and any attempt to isolate and 'banish' her from court will be met by Sverre's intense and stubborn opposition. Trying to separate her from him is one sure way to earn the normally quiet and patient Sverre's wrath. His love for her does have a limit however. If Sverre is forced to choose between Gwenifer and his people, depending on the context he will generally choose the latter though he will do everything in his power to save the former.
Political Sympathies: For the most part, Sverre is largely apolitical. Not caring much about the intrigue happening in the Cæsarthing and more concerned with the wellbeing of his people. He does, however, secretly harbour sympathies to the [alt-socialist], who he views as genuine yet misguided champions of the folk. The group of people who truly cares about the cause of the common man, unlike those two-faced opportunist in the Thing who'd abandon the folk's cause the moment they no longer have a need for their support. Men true to their beliefs and dedicated to fighting for the rights of the common Bryton. Though he does not approve all of their beliefs, he nonetheless understands where they're coming from. Having (secretly) read some of their works himself and finding some sympathies to the nature of their cause and quest to establish utopia. He is not particularly vocal about this sympathy, however. Understanding that doing so will be the death of him (metaphorically) and cause his supporters to distance themselves from him. So for now he stays quiet, content with his lot and not willing to rock the boat too much. If he finds that their is no alternative but to support them and their cause, however...
Style of Rule: Compared to his more hand's on wife, Sverre will largely defer much of his responsibilities to the Cæsarthing, content on merely acting as a constitutional monarch and not wishing to abuse his autocratic powers. If, however, he feels as though the Cæsarthing has gone against the will of the folk (or if Gwenifer goes a step too far and actively start to (repeatedly) bloodily suppress worker's movements) he will start to consider using his royal prerogatives to protect the people of Bryten from suffering further abuse. Finally doing his duty as Cæsar and acting as their valiant defender and championing their cause at the highest levels of the nation's government.

It is perhaps important to note that Sverre is generally skeptical of democracy and does not believe the Thing has the people's best interest in mind. He dislikes most if not all of the Thingmen he has so far met, viewing them to be snakes and liars; greedy opportunist who makes his skin crawl and fills him with feelings of disgust. A part of him thinks that he (and his chosen advisors) could do a better job ruling Bryten compared to the kleptocratic and corrupt Cæsarthing. Though for now he is largely content with his constitutional role and will only ever intervene if he finds it truly necessary for him to do so.
Spouse/Potential of Marriage: HRH Sverre is already married to Cwen Gwenifer.

Faceclaim: Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna of Russia
Name: HRH Gwenifer
(her family and friends call her Brigid)
House: Sværtehjorte
Date of Birth & Age at Ascension: 13 - 09 - 19XX | 30
Relation to the Previous Claimant: None
(wife of the current Cæsar)
Personality: Headstrong and hot-headed. Gwenifer is as stubborn as she is narcissistic. Sverre's polar opposite personality-wise, unlike her meek and weak-willed husband Gwenifer is energetic and full of vigour; never one to back down against a challenge and the type of person who'll rather waste their time proving someone wrong than give up and admit defeat. A cunning, charismatic seductress whose ego is as expansive as Slavia is large. Gwenifer is not above to using less than legal means to get what she wants and is certainly not aversed to abusing her husband's powers to strongarm her enemies into submission. A magnificent speaker armed with a sharp mind, above all she is manipulative and ambitious. Her dreams are massive, her obsession for control even more so. If left to her own devices it is perhaps inevitable that she'd come up with yet another scheme to claw back power from the Cæsarthing for her own use. Though her feelings for Sverre is genuine (and so far he's the only person in the world she's felt a romantic attachment towards), she is not above strong-arming her dear husband into acquiescing to her demands and manipulating him to grow more dependent on her and her alone. The latter she does for the most part to satisfy her obsession with control in addition to her own warped way of showing affection. It is also somewhat caused by her twisted idea that if Sverre were to be given even an ounce of independence and free thought he would find attraction to some other woman, robbing Gwenifer of her sole monopoly on his royal powers and especially his affection. Which Gwenifer, loathe is she to admit (for she considers doing so as a sign of weakness), desperately craves.
Political Sympathies: Gwenifer was heavily involved with Yeong Ænglund in her youth and has largely kept her connections with the movement even as an adult. As such, she will throw her (and the royal family's lot) in with [main Yeong Ænglunder] party, continuing the royal family's previous patronization of Yeong Ænglund and using her new powers to increase their influence in government. Bringing in notable Yeong Ænglunders to her court and allowing them free rein to influence government as they please. Any attempts to remove them will be blocked by Gwenifer and any who complains about their presence shall be quietly sidelined and banished from court. In addition, Gwenifer heavily dislikes the [alt-socialist], viewing them to be traitorous fifth columns hellbent on destroying Bryten from within, and as such will support any measures to curtail their support and squash their movement like the vermin that they are.
Style of Rule: The (wo)man behind the man (Sverre). As said above Gwenifer is not above using her dear husband's royal prerogatives for her own advantage, being more hands-on in the day-to-day management of the realm compared to Sverre. She will, at any given chance, attempt to claw back power from the Cæsarthing and patronized right-wing Thingmen who supports her cause (left-leaning ones who shares her intense nationalism and willing to acknowledge the crown's supremacy will also be patronized if Gwenifer determined them to be loyal enough). She is not above using Sverre's name to prevent the ascension of an Executor she particularly dislikes and will use the crown's vast powers to support her chosen party in the Cæsarthing.
Spouse/Potential of Marriage: HRH Gwenifer is already married to Cæsar Sverre II Constantine.

Prince Nicholas of Romania.jpg
Nicolae Craig von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, Prince of Romania

Name: HRH Adam (as prince-consort, in the unlikely chance he becomes Cæsar he will go with Sverre II)
House: Sværtehjorte, af Albion (after Lilith declares a new dynasty)
Date of Birth & Age at Ascension: 26 - 07 - 19XX | 27
Relation to the Previous Monarch: None
(prince-consort to HRH Lilith)

Personality: Outwardly mild-mannered, soft-spoken, kind, and cool-headed. A charismatic orator, able to speak with clarity to crowds numbering in the thousands despite his relative youth and rile them up to a fury. Intelligent, cunning, and quite religious (an understatement). Oft thought to be one of the more moderate members of the Cæsarina’s inner circle. A voice of reason and pillar of rationality in a court that severely lacks it. The person they deem responsible for the relative restraint the Cæsarina has exhibited in implementing some of her more radical and outlandish plans. “The angel whispering in Her Majesty's ear”, as the press once called him. An image he carefully cultivates for the sake of his benefit, though also to ensure he stays somewhat popular amongst the general populace. As he fears that if he were to become too hated by the common folk he would be forced to leave his dear Lilith’s side. A fate he considers to be worse than death.

Though there is some truth to the press’ claims (Adam does indeed act as a voice of moderation within Lilith’s inner circle, often trying to talk her into dropping some of her more overambitious and unimplementable plans. Largely out of self-preservation, but also because he does not want to see her grow disappointed when they inevitably fail), by-and-large Adam is as guilty with the exacerbation of Her Majesty’s worst tendencies as the rest of the Cæsarina's inner circle, and if anything he had done most in outright encouraging the growth and spread of her worst attributes. A massive xenophobe, it was through Adam’s influence that the Cæsarina’s already present Francophobic tendencies ballooned into outright hatred for all Latin descendant cultures and southern Europeans in general. Who in Adam’s (and now Lilith’s) eyes are naturally inferior and barbaric compared to their more civilized and cultured northern European counterparts.

It must be noted however that the affection Adam holds for Lilith is genuine. He truly does love her to his core. Adam loves Lilith so much, in fact, that in his mind it had taken a new religious form entirely. He sees in her the Lord’s perfect creation. A mortal vessel to enforce his will on this tainted Earth and the one he tasks to rid it of its parasites. For Adam, Lilith is no longer just the apple of his eyes; the subject of his burning passion; the one person whose attention and love he desperately craves. For him, Lilith is purity incarnate herself. A person so blessed with the Lord’s love that she could do no wrong, her every action an artform, and that all must unconditionally obey her will without question. For to not do so would be akin to going against God Himself. “She is perfection given form”, as he puts it. As you may have guessed, Adam’s love for Lilith is bordering on cultish obsession. Well, not bordering. It is cultish obsession.

Additionally, Adam is also known to harbour a burning hatred towards anything he considers "corrupt", "decadent", and "sinful". Though whatever the criteria is for him to consider someone (or something) to be part of either categories is known only to the man himself. What is public however is his complete distrust (and some even say hatred) of the Brytisk aristocracy, who in his eyes are the very embodiment of all that is wrong with Brytisk society. "They are fools given too much power and faces little to no consequence when they abuse it", he is quoted to have said to an ally in the Cæsarthing. Adam is very religiously devout, his faith being a core part of his identity and an essential part of his day-to-day life. He diligently attends church every week and has never once in his life missed a single morning prayer. He often tries to convince his dear Lilith to join him in this though so far she's been dismissive of his attempts at doing so.

Spouse/Potential Marriages: Though for now he is still just another member of her inner circle (an arrangement which, whilst he appreciates, is greatly frustrated towards), Adam wishes to be married to Lilith, Cæsarina of the Brytisk Cæsarric and the love of his life. If he cannot marry her, he will voluntarily go celibate. His heart broken and unwilling to find another muse.

Elisabeth of Hesse and by Rhine.jpeg
The Mad Empress, circa 19XX

Faceclaim: Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna of Russia
Name: HRH Gwenifer
House:
Tostig-Byrben
Date of Birth & Age at Ascension: 14th of December, 19XX | 25
Relation to the Previous Monarch: Granddaughter

Personality: Gwenifer is a troubled woman. An emotionally unstable wreck who was not able to mature due to the circumstances surrounding her childhood, as she aged and Gwenifer's body grew her mind did not follow. Still as immature as when she was a young girl, the abuse she suffered at the hands of both her family and servants have largely stunted whatever emotional development she could have had. Instead, Gwenifer's psyche stagnated. Her intellect increased, sure, and as she grew in age she accumulated more and more knowledge in a variety of subjects. But at her core Gwenifer is still, for a lack of a better term, a child. Arrogant, quick to anger, and hard to please. With a narcissistic desire to be the centre of attention and extremely reckless in her pursuit of such. Not just any child however - but a legitimately mentally unwell one. Prone to sudden mood swings, violent outbursts, and suffering from extreme paranoia which is exacerbated by her undiagnosed schizophrenia. Causing Gwenifer to see enemies in all sides, both real and imaginary, waiting for the chance when she is weakest to strike and rob her of her rightful birthright and put her back in the gilded prison she just escaped from. Causing her to deeply mistrust others and isolating herself for fear of a betrayal.

Though it is important to note that Gwenifer is not an unfeeling and uncaring machine. She has repeatedly, in the past, sought to form relationships with her peers. Even going so far as to tone down her natural arrogance just for the sake of establishing a genuine friendship. But alas, all her attempts ended in failure. Through one way or another, she always seem to lose whatever human relationship she has. Sometimes the problem is her and her arrogant, prideful nature which drives potential companions away. Other times its because of circumstances. Whatever the case, every time she failed in establishing a genuine long-term human connection her heart aches and her already-present difficulties in forming relationships worsen. With every rejection, broken promises, and treachery Gwenifer's misanthropic tendencies grow. Her hatred for humanity in general deepening. Her frustration towards her own inability to keep friendships slowly morphing into a deep, vicious loathing towards anybody who is not her own reflection.

In the end, Gwenifer is a woman desperate for approval. For love. For affection. Any affection. Though she likes to act tough and boss others for the sake of soothing her fragile ego, in truth what she craves most in life is merely to find someone who'll willingly put up with her...eccentricities (read: madness) and loyally stay by her side. Someone patient any enough to not leave her when she's in the middle of one of her outburst and maybe even aid her in her recovery. Someone she knows will never leave her side and will always love her despite her many, many faults. Of course, she's aware such a person is for all tense and purposes nothing more than an imagination. A dream that will never come true. A "Prince Charming" that simply does not exist in the real world. But she still wants to believe that someday, someone will come to her rescue and save her from her personal hell.

Style of Rule: Gwenifer is largely neglectful of her duties as Cæsarin. Though she is quite intelligent and armed with a secret cunning, Gwenifer is lazy. Very lazy. She procrastinates whenever possible. She's the type of person who'd rather tend to her garden or ride her horse than do any of the work her station requires. She often does everything but her work. It's not as if she doesn't have the capability to do it either. As stated above she is intelligent enough, and whilst she does have the tendency to act like a giant (wo)man-child so long as her courtiers are there to keep her in-line she can play the part of a charismatic monarch quite well. She doesn't do it because, and I quote, "it's too much of a bother".

Spouse/Potential Marriages: Someone who'll love her for who she is and willing to stay by her side despite her many faults and insecurities. The nature of their class, nation of origin, religion, gender, etc., does not matter. If the Thing objects she will remind them at who's grace they currently serve.

Media in the new world, aged 23

Name: Aeren XIX Media Carlotta (formerly known in the old world as Charlotte Greycastle)

Age of Ascension: 23 in the new world | 78 (born in the 7th of September, 1945) in the old world

Spouse/Consort: Media, to Charlotte's frustration, has fallen deeply in-love with the oh-so 'dashing' young Duke of Larss, and is currently pestering Charlotte to give her the permission to marry him. Charlotte, unwilling to argue with her other half so soon after her ascension to the throne (in addition to her general apathy towards frivolous and unneeded emotions such as "love") will agree. Only if Media agrees to give Charlotte free reign for her first few years as Empress and let her do as she pleases. If Media refuses, though, then tough luck for her. Charlotte will refuse to give her the permission to marry the Duke and will instead seek the hand of the most powerful man in the realm.

Other Details:

-
Green denotes Media's initiatives, whilst Blue are ones from Charlotte. Violet ones meanwhile are for initiatives done in tandem by both Media and Charlotte.

- It is important to note that if Media gets her way and is allowed to marry the Duke of Larss, Charlotte, though at first largely apathetic to the marriage will overtime grow attached to her new consort. Until eventually their relationship blossoms into a true romantic attachment - to Charlotte's horror and Media's delight. Until then however she will mostly be dismissive of the young Duke, whilst Media on the other hand will shower him with affection.

- From an outside perspective this looks as though Media-Carlotta is unable to make up her mind regarding the topic of her relationship with the Duke. One day showering him with her love and ne'er seen without her by his side, whilst on others she is cold and distant to her consort. Viewing him with great disgust and quiet disdain, usually accompanied with a particularly bitter and harsh verbal abuse. The poor Duke, meanwhile, not being privy to the truth regarding Media-Carlotta's schizophrenia, is terribly confused and befuddled. Unsure if the Empress truly loves him (as she oft proclaims) or if she's just using him for her own gain (which she also often says).

- The case will not be the same if Charlotte refuses Media's plea and instead chooses to marry the most powerful nobleman in the Empire. That relationship will be solely transactional and done for the sake of pragmatism. Media will always loathe such a marriage (and secretly keep her relationship with the Duke of Larss during times where she is the dominant personality and in control of "Media-Carlotta"), whilst Charlotte would, as usual, be largely apathetic.

- Media and Charlotte are not two different individual sharing one mind and body, but are merely the two contrasting personalities that represents the two sides of Media-Carlotta: the domineering, power-hungry and actively malicious Charlotte from the old world, who is pragmatic to a fault and a massive contrarian just for the sake of it; against the compassionate, kind, and idealistic Media, who unlike Charlotte actually feels guilty for her actions in the past world and is willing to do anything to repent in her new one.

- Charlotte is evil, whilst Media is good.

Media in the new world, aged 23

Name: Aeren XIX Media Carlotta (formerly known in the old world as Charlotte Greycastle)

Age at Ascension: 23 in the new world | 78 (born in the 7th of September, 1945) in the old world

Spouse/Consort: Media, to Carlotta's frustration, has become madly infatuated with the young heir to the Duchy of Larss, Henrios (named after one of the previous Empress' lovers). Who happens to be the son of the previous Guardian Seluckya. She first met him after he had dashingly rescued her from a pack of bandits who was praying upon the caravan she travelled with a few days since her awakening in the new world. Since then she had been staying in his private estate in the Ducal capital of Jamesburg, awaiting her escorts who will take her to Velkhad, conversing and gaining the acquaintance of Henrios and, eventually, developing an infatuation towards the young man. In addition to an unhealthy obsession and a strange desire to, uh, do some unpleasant things to his previous suitors so that she may be able to keep his love and attention for herself and herself alone.

Currently she's in the middle of pestering Carlotta, her other half, to give her (Media) the permission needed to marry the young Duke-to-be. Carlotta, unwilling to argue with her other half so soon after her ascension to the throne (in addition to her general apathy (nay,
disdain) towards frivolous and unneeded emotions such as 'love' and 'companionship') will concede. If Media agrees to give Carlotta total control over their shared body for the first few years of her reign as Guardian and Empress and allow her to do such as she pleases (bar of course situations where she is required to play the part of Henrios' lover. During which Media will have full control for Carlotta (still) feels icky with the mere thought of sharing a bed with the man. That may change (it will, see below) but for now all she could feel is disgust whenever the thought crosses her mind).

If Media refuses, however, then oh well. Sucks for her. Carlotta will
not allow her to marry Henrios and will instead wed the most powerful nobleman in the realm (bar Henrios, for Carlotta is very petty and does not take rejection well). Which, if I may add, doesn't matter if the man in question is already married (in such a scenario she will simply seduce the man in question and, shall we say, arrange an accident for his current spouse) or still a child. She will not stop Media from using her time as the dominant personality to engage in dalliances with Henrios' however, unless of course it becomes a detriment to her political goals. In which case she will put a halt to their relationship immediately.

Personality: Aeren XIX Media Carlotta is mad. Dangerously so. Charlotte's, the old her, fragile psyche, already beleaguered from decades' worth of accumulated guilt and the hunting faces of people whose death is in her hands, shattered upon the revelation that their was a higher power. That a God-like being did exist. And that all she had believed in in life was a lie. That she was misguided. That all her crimes, her sins, her failures were witnessed by some higher being who silently judged her every step of the way. Upon this discovery her mind shattered and from its ashes two clashing halves were given life.

The first, and arguably oldest of the two is Carlotta - the remnant of the old Charlotte. Cynical, cold, and very petty. Carlotta embodies everything that was wrong with Charlotte from the old world and ramps it up to eleven on the new. She is ambitious, she is arrogant, she is selfish. She puts her interest above all and views human lives not her own to be nothing more than just another resource for her to manage. Worst of all? She is brilliant. Dangerously brilliant. She has arguably Charlotte's best weapon in the old world: her perfect memory (see background for details). Giving her the intellectual means to accomplish her goals combined with Charlotte's complete apathy for human life that gives her the distinct lack of morality that in the past allowed her to claw her way up from the bottom of the societal ladder, begging on the streets of Glasgow and sometimes spending days without either food nor shelter, to the top. The capability to bring about a golden age in knowledge and technology in this new, largely backwards and barbaric world and the willingness to do so regardless of the human price it will require. The ruthlessness and cruelty needed to deftly maneuver in the Empire's various political intrigues and plots. Their is no one person in this world she is not willing to double-cross or bring down if doing so means she would grow stronger. Her position more secure and her goals closer.

On the flipside, her other half is more sane and relax. If Carlotta embodies all that is wrong with Charlotte (her greed, her pettiness, her inhumanity), then her (Carlotta's) other half, Media, is the living embodiment of all the good (what little there was) present in Charlotte combined with her sudden religious awakening after her death. [WIP]
