    Alternate Namesakes

That's an interesting take on the "Tony Blair: Rock Star" style of AH

Sport and Politics. The Olympic Games, Part 6

Yeah, researching this has led me down all sorts of places, many unexpectedly dark

Sport and Politics: The Olympic Games. Part 5

As I research the various Games, I am continually surprised about the little nuggets that turn up.

Monthly vignette: Cheap at the Price.

Nicely done, and the tone is spot on

Alternate History and Sport: Alternate Leagues

I'll be interested to see what happens with the USFL*/XFL merger over the next couple of years. I'm not sure the financial restraint required is compatible with a good enough product, but all the other major leagues have a minor league farm system. It may well be the physical toll of the NFL is...

The more I read about Avery Bundage (see 1936 as well) the more I disliked him.

Poll: A more varied likes system

The only ones I think would have use are the 'hugs' (because people often share news that can be acknowledged but not liked) and Insightful/Imformative (because sometimes the content is not something we would like). The Road to a New Alternate History. Part 4

I think part of the challenge for creating an awe-inspiring utopia is it's much harder for people to agree on what a utopia looks like. Most people can agree on a dystopia, and the visuals are 'easy'. But a current time utopia? What works for one may well not work for another

The Soviet Union also had their own internal version (called the Spartakiad) between the wars. There's definitely a route to alternative Games

They also had a team in the 1954 World Cup qualifiers, losing out to West Germany in European Group 1, and beating Norway in Oslo

I think you could easily come up with a >50% different line up for all the Big 4 North American leagues without having to try too hard

Sport in Alternate History. Part 7: Relocations.

I'm toying with writing a list of teams it is possible to kill through minor changes (like someone else not leaving a ground)

Sport in Alternate History. Sport and Politics II

As I read deeper into the events around most of the things I end up including (and those I don't) I'm continually finding that mis-reporting of the actual events is a common theme - even when there is film evidence to the contrary (as there was with the race in question)

Professionalism in Union (earlier, later, or competent) offers all sorts of fun options
