So, the Disney company was actually in the slumps from 1966 (Walt's death) to 1983 or so (the year Eisner was brought on and turned the company around). The company fended off several hostile takeover bids in the 1970s and 1980s. So what if Gulf & Western bought Walt Disney Productions in 1978.
