OTL, the 1926 general strike was pretty much the first display of inter-industry labour solidarity in the UK, and was also the last general strike in British history, as many union leaders believed the general strike to have been a mistake. Historically, the government was able to resist the strike due to help from middle class strike-breakers, and to a lesser extent due to disunity among some striking workers.

What would need to happen for it to succeed; and what would have changed in Britain had it been successful? A friend of mine suggested that this could result in a very British form of nordic democracy, with Labour emerging as the "natural party of government", but I am skeptical of this myself.
