WI: Revolutionary General Strikes

In AH we often see the 1926 General Strike in the UK being used to give rise to a British Revolution - and to a much, much lesser extent the General Strike in Winnipeg for a Canadian Revolution along with the regular Strike in Glasgow, both in 1919. However, what is the likelihood of any of these strikes leading to revolutionary action? What would be needed to tip the scales towards revolution, what would these revolutions look like in practice and how likely would their success be?

Botched repression would probably be a good trigger that forces the (often not revolutionary) trade unions into action, maybe?
I would say this, if per say Jix and Churchill were the one's in charge in 26' instead of Baldwin then you have two people who will fling the full force of the state at a General Strike, Churchill famously wanted tanks to be escorting food trucks because he was very smart like that.

What would this look like? If as per @Time Enough's suggestion someone like Churchill was in charge and tried to crack down hard on the Strike, how would the unions react?

Dunno you're asking the one person on this site who isn't a British expert!

I just thought the unions would need the kick in the pants to act, I don't know where it'd go from there.

I’d argue that you’d need an existing crisis point to occur for a general strike to really get a foothold. Spain in 1936 was perhaps the best example of this. As the generals did their coup, the labor unions organized militas and seized the means of production in Catalonia.

While this wouldn’t be a revolutionary strike, there were plans from the AFL-CIO to hold a general strike if Trump stole the 2020 election. In a scenario with a much worse January 6th, these plans would be crucial to ensuring the survival of democracy.
