The Aroostook War was a confrontation in 1838–1839 between the USA and the UK over the boundary between New Brunswick and Maine. The term "war" was rhetorical; local militia units were deployed, but never engaged in combat. So, what if tensions had boiled over, the respective US and British(/Canadian) militias had actually engaged one another, and the stand-off had escalated into a full-blown war? How would you envision the conflict panning out, how large a swathe of territory might change hands (and which way?), and how much of an impact might this conflict, and the aftermath of it, have wound up having in the long run?
