I don't think I'd ever actually come across what happened to Owens after '36. I mean I'm not surprised it was that bad, but it's always good for the reminder.
Yeah, a lot of Big Names can end up in humble or outright crappy lives after but it's quite grim to see Jesse Owens, publicly cheered as showing up Hitler, being stuffed. People said "he showed Hitler what for!" during his lifetime but didn't think "let's give him a job then"
