PODs of the Thirty Years War XXXVII

A bit unfair to call it Torstensson's war when it should be called Oxenstierna's, but there you go.

Still. Both Swedes and Danes had fought on the side of German Protestant princes. Something had to be done, simply had to, or people could have imagined things.

If things had gone differently and the Danes and Swedes had mutually destroyed each other imagine the historiography?

First the Emperor had won the war for the Catholics but another Catholic Power (France) helped keep his enemies in the fight and he was too much of a stubborn ass to take the win, then the Protestants had won the war but then literally decided to declare war on each other for the hell of it at the hour of triumph.

I have to imagine their various allies just putting their hands in the air in frustration and just going home at this point. Stopping to loot a neutral or allied town on the way.

There's certainly a world where Christian IV is 'Gustavus Adolphus, but Danish and dying on a boat instead' in terms of historiography.
