Lists of Heads of Government and Heads of State

Vague thought I had for a challenge: a list made up entirely of forgettable politicians being PM or president (some British examples might be Michael Stewart, Tom King and Bill Rodgers; John Thune springs to mind in the US). Maybe with the twist that in TTL they all have exciting and surprising premierships.
Ooh, that sounds fun. I would add Paddy Tipping to that list, because whilst I don’t think he’s forgettable for myself outside of Nottinghamshire he would raise a ‘Who?’

  • The storming is more successful and 31 people in total die with Senator Lankford getting injured and several senators being held hostage for several hours.
  • The 25th is invoked before midnight.
  • Pence becomes the shortest serving president in American history.
  • Democrats try to impeach Trump, Hawley and Cruz, but fail with the latter two only being censured.
  • The 117th congress is one of the most eventful with statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico passing, though they are still fairly limited due to Manchin, Sinema and the Puerto Rico senators.
  • Trump forms the ‘Patriot’ Party and is joined by a third of House Republicans and 9 Senators.
  • He nevertheless is imprisoned in early 2022 due to the Manhattan DA’s investigation with numerous other charges later coming on top of it.
  • Democrats win 6 seats in the senate and 55 in the House.
  • Patriot Party becomes the second biggest party in the House.
  • The Republicans try to move to the centre in 2022, but end up as the biggest losers of the election.
  • Biden is killed by a right-wing terrorist a few days before New Year.
  • Harris passes legislation cracking down against radicalism on the internetand declares a “War against racism”
  • She also passes numerous progressive legislation, among which Universal health care with a private option.
  • The 2024 election is the most violent to date.
  • Kamala Harris’ primary challenger congresswoman Nina Turner is assassinated by Proud Boys
  • Republican candidate governor Larry Hogan is killed by a car bomb.
  • Romney wins the nomination for the Republicans while an imprisoned Trump is nominated by the Patriots.
  • Democrats win by a landslide, but Patriots claim the election was stolen.
  • On the sixth of January a mob of Trump supporters storm the White House after exactly four years again.
  • Another group storms the FCI Florida where Trump is imprisoned and free him leaving the city partially in ruins.
  • The White House is again occupied, but this time more violently as hundreds die including close to a hundred congresspeople.
  • Jon Ossoff and Mitt Romney are both assassinated by right-wing terrorists.
  • The siege of congress is over after less than 24 hours, but the building is left in ruins with the death toll well in the thousands at the end.
  • Trump is in a secure position and calls himself the legitimate president and tells his supporters to “resist and fight the Democrats and Republicans”.
  • Harris calls for a National Union with the Republican party, but refuses to nominate a Republican VP in case she gets assassinated.
  • Most of the Army stays with the Feds, but a small group joins Trump with a slightly smaller group of police also joining him.
  • This causes the markets to completely crash and the second great depression to break out.
  • The Second American Civil War (2025-27) is not felt by the Americans living in Urban areas aside from the occasional terrorist attack by the rebels.
  • Rural America is much more of a battlefield with the Flyover States, Appalachia and the Deep South seeing most of the fighting.
  • Europe, Canada and Japan also have several Trumpist inspired terrorist attacks.
  • Trump wouldn’t see the end of the war, but his children, Hawley and numerous others aren’t as lucky.
  • Harris significantly strengthens the Federal government, but reforms it at the same time with the Electoral College among other things ending up in the dustbin of history and RCV introduced across the country.
  • Democrats nominate Warnock in 2028 largely due to the rebirth of the Christian Left, while Republicans nominate “moderate conservative” Sasse.
  • Zuckerberg runs a centrist campaign mainly focussed on civil liberties and reducing the surveillance state, while Cori Bush runs to the left of Warnock and calls for harder actions against the rebels and more government intervention in the economy.
  • The main issues of the 2028 election are terrorism, the economy, surveillance, rebuilding of infrastructure and jobs.

If there is one person who can form his own party and immediately poll at 30% it’s Trump.
Poll yes. Get that result when people cast ballots, nah.

And we're talking house seats too, here, not just Trump's vanity run, if I read correctly. Which means a lot of stuff to coordinate to help people who aren't called Trump get (re)elected. It's much more likely they run as republicans still, including bruising primaries.

Sir Simon Stevens Gets National Health Act Passed Through Parliament:
21st October 2020
"My dream since I became an MP is to help implement a true Socialised Medical System and today that dream becomes true" the grinning Sir Stevens said today in a Press Conference. The former manager of the National Health Scheme has long professed his belief in a Socialised Healthcare system which is free on point of use. With his unexpected 2019 Majority and support from Left Wing Party's, Steven's has managed to achieve this aim which was part of the "Three Core Tenants of Modern Social Democracy" expressed in the Andrew Fisher drafted Social Democrats 2019 manifesto. Whilst the National Democrats lead by Jo Swinson have criticised it as a wasteful use of Government resources compared to the 'Perfectly reasonable system of a National Health Insurance'. However Left Unity Health Critic Danielle Rowley said "With this bill, Simon Stevens has allowed millions of the poor, homeless and those who have fallen through the nets due to the National Democrats 'trim the fat' campaign to finally live the healthy and fulfilling lives that every human needs".

Green Cooperative Towns, A Green Future? Housing Minister Speaks:
22nd October 2020
"If we want a Green, Sustainable Future we have to consider how to make our Towns Green and Sustainable, The Green Cooperative are the future of Green Towns and all Towns can become a Member of it..." Housing Minister Jonathan Reynolds. The Green Cooperative Scheme was set up by Anna Turley and Andrew Fisher as part of it's "Three Core Tenants of Modern Social Democracy", though criticism has come from Left Unity Co Leader Benali Hamdache who expresses that it's not just town's that have to be eco friendly, "We should be making our industries eco friendly too, of course the NUM has big pockets and they would rather avoid the idea of Britain ending coal production any time soon." Ian Lavery has refused to comment on the statement.

I have to say, I think this is in extremely poor taste. We're still learning just how close we came to a massacre a few days ago; it's still unclear just how many people were injured, it's still possible the death toll will climb.

I know that we deal with traumatic news in different ways, but I think it's a misjudgment to immediately respond to an event like this with an elaborate fantasy about how it could be even worse- a double fantasy, in fact, since you have the storming occur again with a death toll in the thousands.

I don't think this is in violation of any forum rule, and I'm certainly not trying to malign you. But as I said: I think this is distasteful, and doesn't need to be here less than a week after the coup attempt.

EDIT: Please read this charitably- I'm tried to object respectfully without being hectoring, and I may not have succeeded.

I get where you’re coming from and was considering removing the post yesterday after reading that it was more of an organized coup attempt than just a storming that would hopefully cause Trump’s re-election.

I didn’t mean harm or discomfort towards anyone on this forum by making this post. I always try to use contemporary events as my main piece of inspiration when making lists.

Thoughts on this?

Couple of things.

Not sure of the split EC in 2032. This suggests perhaps AOC's indy run gained some states and I dont know if she'd manage that or if she'd just split the democrat vote, like America First did in 2024 and 2028 for the GOP. All 3 elections could see some weird states flipping! If she did gain some states I'm not sure which.

Also IDK if America First ever gain any states in presidential elections. I think its fair to say neither of the two splinter parties gain any senators, Just the odd congress district here and there where the voting base is sufficiently right/left.
