I may become mildly sporadic in running these numbers due to complications with a good friend of mine and her current trend of suicidal behavior. Apologies to anyone who reads these in advance if I miss some days.

Not surprising FTOTB is so high - that one's well placed for the general market and congrats again to @Kato for all the work on preparing it.
Thank you. Not to dampen spirits unnecessarily, but I'm holding off any celebration until actual sales figures come through. From tracking these Kindle rankings in the past they are extremely volatile - a difference of one sale over a couple of days can send a title from languishing in the 200,000 ranks up to sub-50,000. That said, FTOTB hovering around 20,000 at the moment (before any official promotion) is a tentative good sign.

I suspect these things only become significant when there's a meaningful distinction (in numbers of units sold) between placings.

Market positioning was a deliberate decision with this one - and hopefully something that might just allow for some cut through, especially with particular search keywords in the blurb (a Former Mayor of London's ISP perks up).

One good thing with anthologies of course is that we (hopefully) have 10 sales or so nailed on, and get to multiply the family and friends market.

This is true, it's why I don't put much stock in these rankings myself, but it is an encouraging sign.

My many sympathies to your friend, @Tabac Iberez.

My congratulations to @Kato. "Fight Them on The Beaches" does explore the Operation "Unmentionable Sea Mammal" from many refreshing angles. The cover is amazing. The sight of the soldiers in the barges makes one to think it's a D-Day story...until one sees the White Cliffs of Dover in the foreground.

My, my, that is the next fortnight sorted for me, then. First compiling the alphabetical list of the titles, numbered in base-12 (a quirk of mine), and drawing and colouring in the thumbnails of the covers. Looking forward to it.

I'd be a bit more enthusiastic myself, since the numbers are staying high. If you want I'll do a correlation between the December sales tracking and payroll sheet to try and see if there's a good estimate of what we're seeing in sales/listing interaction.
