George Galloway's Queensway

George Galloway's written an alternate history book! I'm not joking. Stop crying.

The cover and very bare descriptions say this is, of course, a Sea Lion book where Britain is occupied in June 1940 and an unspecified resistance is fighting back. "Part One of a series." There's little real info or a place to buy it, you have to email him to pre-order a signed copy to be posted. So this isn't a kindle jobby.

This is quite bizarre. So little to go on except "so, er, Nazis in Britain, eh?" It feels like a scam. But god, if real, I hope someone who isn't me reads "George Galloway writes about killing collaborators in Britain" and tells us what it's like because I imagine it's very, uh, illuminating.

Unusual of Gorgeous George to write about an era when the Bohemian Corporal was Comrade Card-Index's bae.

I wonder how he'll handwave that one away.

I suspect Comrade Corbyn Forlyn will have a load of ahistorical Sten guns buried on his allotment, and his version of Seelöwe will be entirely plausible.

Sounds like Dad's Army for Hamas supporters, to me.

Who's gonna take one for the team and actually read it?

Given the original tweet about this was one of the most 'fucking hell' things I've ever read, ("If Hitler had come here and I was alive, I'd be in the mountains under Corbyn in the anti-fascist war. And so would every other labour figure witch-hunted now by those who would've been out selling them financial services") this is bound to be fun.

A part of me thinks this would still just be a sadly conventional "politician novel" (read-politician puts name on the front cover, obscure writer clearly only doing it for the money does most or all of the actual writing, result is a bland and mediocre-at-best "grocery store book" that as the politician's association as the only distinguishing feature -which is the point, after all).

But if this is really unfiltered, and the weird distribution (assuming this isn't just jumping the gun) indicates this, then it might be -something.

and his version of Seelöwe will be entirely plausible.

My hunch, regardless of whether this is a "politician novel" or something more unhinged, is that there wouldn't be much detail on the nuts and bolts of the invasion besides "it succeeded".

Oh this would be pure Galloway there's no way he'd pay for a ghostwriter

Which at least hints at an unusual late 1941/42 invasion date as good socialists like them would be cooperating with the allied anti-Imperialist regime before mid 1941.
