@Japhy since you seem like you know way more about 19th Century American politics than I do, is this list any good?

Zeb Vance is pushing things. Hard to get a CS governor into the white house. But it's excellent in General. I too enjoy the idea of a GOP Farmer Labor Party.

Hmm, I’ll do some research myself, but do you know of any Democrats in that conciliatory mold that works for that time period?

Re-reading that Goldwater book brought to my attention the fact that Robert Taft wanted Clarence Manion, dean of the Notre Dame law school, architect behind Goldwater’s eventual rise to national prominence and a former New Deal Democrat and later hardcore conservative who left the party over World War Two, as his Attorney General and recommended him to Eisenhower when he was making his Cabinet.

@Japhy, since I know you’re interested about Taft - what do you think his Cabinet would’ve looked like if he won the Presidency in ‘52?

I missed this until now. I know about Manion, I'll check my copy of Mr. Republican and see if some Footnote skimming can get an answer on other posts.

lol, someone suggested the exact same thing on Beatrix’s list. did Welles actually try and make a heart of darkness movie?

Yeah, it was going to be his first film but he ran out of money and made Citizen Kane instead. If we were doing footnotes I'd have had something about it being an immense success thanks to the support of the Hearst congolomerate or something like that.

Niiiice, I never knew that.

The list is still moving on without me on the other place, so feel free to check it out over there if you want to keep adding stuff.

Yeah, just so you know this one isn’t happening considering the other one finished.

I was originally going to move it over here once that one guy put The Room on it, but it kept going on so this one didn’t go anywhere.

Monarchs of the Andals, Rhoynar and First Men, 130 AC - present:
130 - 135: Joffrey I Velaryon-Targaryen
'the Boy King'
135 - 157: Viserys II Targaryen
'the Good'
157 - 164: Aenys II Targaryen
'the Stout'
164 - 200: Daeron I Targaryen
'Fireball'
200 - 202: Aegon III Targaryen
'Dragonrot'
202 - 202: Alester I Hightower
'the Smith'
202 - 205: Maegor II Redwyne-Targaryen
'the Last'
205 - 261: Alester I Hightower
'the Iron King'
261 - 293: Baelor I Hightower
'the Fox'
293 - present: Joffrey II Hightower
'the Mummer'
Alester - clubfooted, cold and calculating. Just and fair, hardcore ideologue. One of the smartest men in the realm (on the level of Baelish), rather religious, patron of the Citadel and a general renaissance man. Harbored a deep hate of the Targaryen dynasty despite his own heritage from that family due to the corrupt and dire reign of the hotheaded Daeron I. Daeron's lackadaisical approach to his duties and increased autonomy to the Iron Isles, the North and (most importantly) Dorne, which been conquered in the early 160's, means that Alester positions himself as a centralizer. Close friends with Tathos, a Qartheen emigre who's known him since his youth in Oldtown, who also serves as his Hand - a fact that angers some of the more nativist Lords.
Daeron - Aegon IV mixed with the Young Dragon. Passionate, womanizer, quick to anger and overambitious to a fault. Likes to think of himself of Aegon the Conqueror reborn, and tries to live up to that legacy by throwing himself into foreign wars between the various Free Cities whenever he can. Has about half-a-dozen known bastard children (including Maegor II), and probably a dozen more that aren't known. Kind to the smallfolk, a dick to just about everyone else. Selfish to a fault.
