Honestly, the most confusing thing about this whole mess is why people seem to think that the name-brands of characters that haven't been able to hold down a consistently running publisher or origin story since 1948 are so reliable. At some point, you may as well go "fuck it, let's try a new character with an existing hook and interesting possibilities" over trying to revive characters who may as well be second-string cameos in a ripoff of Worm for all they have going for them.
Honestly, the most confusing thing about this whole mess is why people seem to think that the name-brands of characters that haven't been able to hold down a consistently running publisher or origin story since 1948 are so reliable.
Something that's oddly common in comics as a hole, and is a mix of:
a) "Well it happened these few times so maybe--"
b) "We're going to use this property because we have it"
c) Work-for-hire creators not usually throwing out as many new ideas as back in the day, because why would you when another publisher will let you own the thing?

Really interesting topic! I like how this is almost like a parodic take on "if the modern callous reboot-to-chase-fashion attitude had always been the case" but it actually happened.

The Mighty Crusaders also almost became agents of the superspy agency TRIUMPH, not at all inspired by UNCLE, not at all honest.
