Honestly, the most confusing thing about this whole mess is why people seem to think that the name-brands of characters that haven't been able to hold down a consistently running publisher or origin story since 1948 are so reliable. At some point, you may as well go "fuck it, let's try a new character with an existing hook and interesting possibilities" over trying to revive characters who may as well be second-string cameos in a ripoff of Worm for all they have going for them.

Something that's oddly common in comics as a hole, and is a mix of:

a) "Well it happened these few times so maybe--"

b) "We're going to use this property because we have it"

c) Work-for-hire creators not usually throwing out as many new ideas as back in the day, because why would you when another publisher will let you own the thing?
