Nelson and Mary Rockefeller were divorced in 1962. On May 4, 1963, Rockefeller broke up with his mistress Margaretta Large "Happy" Fitler.

on July 13 to July 16, 1964. Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona was nominated as candidate for president. Governor Rockefeller New York did not run for president as
he did not run in 1960;Rockefeller endorsed Goldwater but told a friend he hated sucking up to that Arizona senator and his being near that b movie actor Ronald Reagan made him want to puke. although Goldwater lost to Johnson in a landslide

Governor Rockefeller's good friend Charles Percy got elected Governor of Illinois. also Taft won his Ohio senate seat as well. But President Johnson had it in the bag.
Johnson ran on Kennedys memory and won on the 35th presidents memory it may of been a good idea had there been no Goldwater Johnson debates .The Arizona senator embarrassed himself talking about using nukes in Vietnam.

June 5th 1968

Humphrey remarked at a meeting with college student s that youths were using the Vietnam War as "escapism" and ignoring domestic issues. He stated that he had received thousands of letters from young people about the Vietnam War but received zero about Head Start;

Vice president Humphrey was not aware reporter's were at this meeting he thought private.
