A Cruel War in Low Germany: Looking Back at Ralph Peters' 'Red Army'

You see them confronting their role in the history of the Soviet Union and of Russia before it, and you see them confronted with the ruthless moral dilemmas of conflict, and you see them shocked at what they see on the other side of the Iron Curtain.
Does Peters go into any lengths about the Red Army soldiers' reaction to what they find in West Germany? By the 1980s, most people in Eastern Europe were well aware that the West was much more prosperous.

Absolutely. I didn't want to spoil it but they're some of the most impactful scenes in the book.
