    Some of the answers and comments there do refer to the present tense use of shew, although I agree they are not dated as definitely as the past tense useage. Also using shew as the past tense is also an archaicism.

    I think he just aged. Also look at the later Stainless Steel Rat novels compared with the original, however they are still readable possibly because there is no real world to compare against.

    I don't know if this has been shown anywhere else. The Deutsches Historisches Museum has an exhibition on Found via this Guardian article which includes some description of what is shown but merely to suggest what would be in a British version...
